I just missed out on a cash when my pocket queens didn't hold up vs. pocket tens preflop all-in in Level 11 on Day 2. At least I got my chips in when I had the advantage, that's all one can ask for.

I just got off the phone with Al and he gave me a rundown on how things are going at the WSOP. He knocked the 5-10 PLO for $3700 night before last. Last night he sat in the 40-80 O8 for ten hours and made $1100. The 10-20 and 20-40 O8's are juicy too. But he says the 75-150 O8 has been going around the clock for 2 weeks and it's a rough tough game. Lots of tough players. He doesn't want anything to do with it. Tonite he's headed to the Venetian to look at the 5-5 and 5-10 PLO. They have a promotion where there is no rake from noon to 3, and only half rake the rest of the time.

I just got a report from Al on what's happening in the cash games. The 40-80 O8 petered out so he switched to the 50-100 Stud 8. And now that's petering out too. Players are busy trying to satellite into the main event which starts in about 6 days.

Went to the Palms, turns out the poker room closed, so I went over to the Rio instead for some cash games. I'm not a pro by any means so I sat down at 1-3 NL and had a fun time. Fun tip if you have a diamond card you can cut to the front of the line, which saves you aggravation of waiting for a seat to open. Games up to 10/20 NL. No problems filling seats on all levels.
