Anyone have an idea of what poker rooms on the strip give for comps hourly? I played at Planet Hollywood 2 years ago and played about 12 hours of 1/2 nl. From my memory i feel like it was roughly $1 an hour but i cant remember for sure. Does that seem about right? Are there rooms that have better comps?

$1 per hour is standard. I know some places do $2 per hour promos from time to time.

Venetian is $2/hr standard now. I think Mirage does too.

Get the AllVegasPoker smartphone app. Or go to their website.

They have info about every Vegas poker room. Including the regular games offered, tourneys, buy ins, rake, and in some cases, comp rate.

They don't have the comp rate for PH, but at Mirage for example, it's $2/hr.

You're welcome.

Another great free app is BravoPokerLive. It has the number of table and people waiting for any room, nationwide (worldwide?), that uses the Bravo system - which is most of them.

Also free, RobertsRulesOfPoker. Very detailed and well organized.

Are the $2/hr. rooms desperate or do players even care?

I think the TI is also $2/hr. Some places even give $3/hr on graveyard, like the Rio from 3am-noon, and Stations places like Red Rock. I know RR is well off the Strip, but if you like Omaha, it's one of the 4 places in town that regularly spreads it (the B, the V and Orleans being the others).

One goofy thing I noticed about Red Rock comps though, is that 600 points given in the poker room per hour is supposed to equal $1, and it's 1800 per hour after 3am. You can redeem those points at the buffet at $1=600 points, but if you try it at the Food Courts, then $1=1000 points. So a $10 buffet takes 6000 points off your card, but spending $10 at FatBurger takes off 10,000 points. They don't advertise that of course.

Guessing that's franchise fees vs. in-house preparation.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

A handful of places are going to $2/hr and the only one I would consider "struggling" is TI. Venetian, Aria, Mirage, and Bellagio also all offer $2/hr. These all rake $4 + $0 or $1.

All CET properties, however, only comp $1/hr. They also rake $5+$1, and the "+$1" goes to the rarely hit "Megabeat", so unless you're actively playing when it hits (3 times so far this year maybe?), you won't see anything from the jackpot drop. I have heard that CET properties tend to be softer, but that's only based on what I have read on the internet. I personally have never played NLHE at any Vegas CET property.

Yep, I figured. Thing is, I doubt most people will even notice the scam. They swipe your card at the buffet and you sign the slip, but they don't do that in the food court. In order to use comps in the food court, you have to go to a self-serve kiosk away from the restaurants, swipe your own card, tell the machine how many dollars you think you'll need and at which restaurant you're eating, then it prints out a voucher good only for that restaurant. There's no mention on there about how many points you just lost to get this ticket. And no change is given at the restaurant if you request too many dollars IIRC. So if you're leaving town in the morning and want to cash in your comps for cash, you can't request a $50 voucher, use to buy a Coke and ask for $49 in change. And the comps at Stations expire in 12 months. Comps at the Caesars properties expire in 6 months. MGM it's 12 months and I've been told at TI it's 18 months, but they're not too strict about it, like they are at Caesars.

When I played at ph as noted in the original post I thought it was the softest table I had ever played at. Which is nice. Played at mirage a few times and felt like I was the fish every time.

At CET, your comps data may get truly wiped I think at the 6 month point and nobody can bring them back to you. My g/f lost a significant amount of comps (for her play level) over this. When she (or I for that matter) signed up for a card, this wasn't the policy and neither of us were aware of it until we learned the hardway in Tunica in 2009. :-\ We got back at them over the Race to Rewards though ($1350 each over the last two years). People like us is probably why they didn't re-run the promo this year. :(

If that's the case, you might be better off at PH even with higher rake. Venetian, Aria, and Bellagio are probably tougher than Mirage. Aria definitely will be; 2+2'ers love that place and Venetian. I bet a lot of 2+2'ers avoid CET too because of lower comps/higher rake.
