Quote: Wulfgar1224Has anyone been to Vegas at the Palace Station recently? I was thinking of heading there next week to play some tiles and wanted to try Show Pai? Is the game still there?
Yes, I visited Palace Station yesterday and played Show Pai for a short time. The session started out well so I decided to quit while I was ahead before I started losing.
Quote: tringlomaneJust saw this. Looking at wiz's page, I think he needs to point out a dealer's "No Pai" is a push in the description.
I see in the beginning of this thread it was posted that a dealer's No Pai is a push. However, the dealer had No Pai twice during my short session yesterday and I am pretty certain that both times I was paid for a win as well as paid 10-to-1 on the Bonus Bet. I hadn't played in a couple months, was trying to remember the rules and did not remember that dealer No Pai is supposed to be a push. Maybe I am mistaken about being paid, or maybe the dealer was mistaken for paying the players, or maybe the rules have been changed, but I am pretty sure I was paid for a win.
Quote: WizardofnothingNo pai is a push if you also have no pai- if you qualify with anything at all then you are paid for the win
According to the rack card on Wiz's Show Pai page, as well as the pay/collect table on the game developer's Show Pai page:
"If the player has No Pai or pushes both hands, the player loses. If the dealer has No Pai, and the player can set his or her hand, the player pushes."
Player Cannot set Hand | Bet Collected (Player NO PAI) |
Dealer Cannot Set Hand, but Player can | PUSH (Dealer NO PAI) |
Basic rules are
Copy hands are a push
If dealer qualifies and player doesn't it's a loss
If player qualifies and dealer doesn't it's a win
If player wins with a 5 on top then wins are paid at 1-2
Quote: FleaStiffIf its all the same, I'd rather just play either Baccarat or Pie Gow Poker.... and since the house edge is about the same... why should I learn new games.
It's a really fun game

The one question that every game developer has to look in the mirror and answer...what does my game offer that is worth the player effort required to learn/play a new game?

So are you saying the rules have changed since the Wiz last examined the game in person? The 1-2 win with 5 on top is a a BIG change.
I think it's a variation of that came but I'm not sure
It's from the same maker as Asia poker

How about thinking the benefits to the casino? higher drop and / or hold worthy of replacing an existing game? doing the game designer a favor in exchange for something in return?Quote: ParadigmThe one question that every game developer has to look in the mirror and answer...what does my game offer that is worth the player effort required to learn/play a new game?
Quote: BlueEagleThe Show Pai table at Palace Station has been moved to the opposite end of the Asian games pit it is in, closer to the Craps tables.
The table has been moved again. Closer to craps, next to 3 Card Poker, UTH and Free Bet BJ.

It doesn't sound like that game is doing too well there if they keep moving it around.

I take the opposite pov of that, actually. Either they like it well enough to help it by positioning it with their most popular games (far as I know in general, anyway, who knows the local drop or preferences ), or it's getting enough traction as a hot game that they're putting it in their "exciting" zone of top draws.
Either way, supporting it like that is almost surely a good sign for the inventor.
Out of the casino now.Quote: BlueEagleThe table has been moved again. Closer to craps, next to 3 Card Poker, UTH and Free Bet BJ.
Quote: socksInstead of thinking about the game's design. I'm thinking about this poll's design :P
I agree.
The polls here should stick to the question with a Yes, Maybe, and No, with no distractions to skew an honest and clear answer.
Offering a "click HERE if it looks like Donald Trump in Drag on a rainy Thursday...and I am also a bigot" just makes any and all polls useless for its purpose when trying to offer a real result for the question.
As for the inventor Mr. Lee, I feel for the guy, but he should never enter into denial on a poor game concept, only to hold onto it forever, but instead get to his next (and perhaps better) game idea. If a game is quickly pulled from a busy casino like Palace Station or the Orleans, there's your (sadly sad) answer, and so move forward, not backwards. Don't sink good money after bad as a business decision, but this especially pertains to an emotional decision.
