But neither here nor there. We both got players cards and bought in for a total of $110 - and were told that we would be reimbursed for losses. Sweet, we think - that money we lost back in our pockets.
The good news first: They counted us as losing $110 despite the combined loss of $60.
The bad news: We have to wait a month for the comps to be returned. In check form to our houses. And we have to redeem them at Belterra - two hours' drive from our house. And we have to go on two separate occasions. We were probably going to return anyway, but we weren't sure if we would come back twice. It's tricky to think just how "worth it" such a comp is, although if we return and win big, it's definitely worth it. Hopefully we catch the tables on a better day than this past Friday. I couldn't even catch a break on Pai Gow - to think, the player next to me told me, "You can bet a side bet that you'll get Pai Gow." I thought about putting $5 on it - didn't do it. What did I get? A damn Pai Gow. Well, that's life, I guess.
For those in the area looking to take advantage of the comp, I should add that it's for new players cards only.

Competition from Ohio is apparently a good thing !
Sorry GWAE I enjoy reading some of your things on the forum, we know you are a smart guy already. But why must we talking about such things like Rat holing, and even give it as advice. Is it a big secret, NO is it something we should be talking about openly and blatantly? Casinos run less and less promos each year, probably because of things like this.Quote: GWAEYou really missed out on a good opportunity. The loss rebate is up to $500. If they are letting you do it on Blackjack as well and not just on slots you could have easily milked the $500 loss when only losing or winning a little amount. Rat holing here would have been the best choice.

To be honest with you I never thought of it as something that was that bad that we shouldn't discuss it.
Quote: rdw4potusDoes Pinnacle link between properties? Could someone with a card from River City, L'auberge, or Boomtown do this promo?
I thought they did link between properties, but we also kept our Ameristar numbers for the takeover, so not positive. I did the rebate at River City in 2012. Collected like $200 in comps/freeplay above the loss rebate before they cut me off. Looks like River City got rid of the offer too. They'll give new members a free buffet with 30 Tier Points. Garbage. :(
Yes, HWCC you really blew it by not taking advantage of the full $500. Then it definitely would have been worth your time to drive back down there. Like trig, I did the rebate at River City and went back to collect my free play when I happened to be driving across the country.Quote: tringlomaneI thought they did link between properties, but we also kept our Ameristar numbers for the takeover, so not positive. I was actually unaware of the promotion or the limit when I got there. When we showed up and saw the sign for loss reimbursement, we just thought, "Hey, cool, we can get our losses back." We were unprepared to put down $500 to gamble (well, a thousand combined) and were just playing small amounts of money. If we were truly trying to hustle for comps, yes, we would have done the full thousand between us, but it wasn't a big deal, nor were we really aware that they would take our entire buy-in as losses for reimbursement purposes.
