Quick Craps Rating Question

When you make bets such as $10 PL and $12 6 and 8, you get rated with a $34 average. I get that. How are lay bets rated, since they win more often than lose - based on your bet size, or potential win size? If you lay $40 on the 4, do you get rated at $40 or $20? Or even $19??
