My recent cruise brought me a couple of questions.
First, they only allowed single odds. WTH? So I have been trying to work on strategies that will do well the next time I am faced with only single odds. Any suggestions from people would be welcome.
Second, I was told by the dealers on the cruise that I can pull down DC and odds at any time. That makes sense since pulling them is giving away my advantage. But I have only encountered one app so far that allows that. Are they correct or misinformed?
Thanks.
Cruise ships typically offer the worse games you could ever play. They have a captive audience so they don't have to offer anything decent.

I think you mean that you can take a DC line bet down anytime after the point is established. You have to leave it up when the dice are in motion.

I apparently will be facing this soon, and expect to be sort of bored with the way I usually play. The variance will be very low and a long session more likely to be a loser. I plan to instead bet more than usual on each bet and make myself do short sessions in order to keep the amount I put into action the same. Make sure you understand that last part if you want to do it.

You are allowed to do this anywhere because it favors the house. Instead of being a lemming and doing what some idiot has suggested, try to find someone playing the don't who 'wants no action' on his 6s and 8s and buy them from him. IIRC that has a 9% player edge. You'll have to make it worth his while someway, and 9% of $5 is only 45 cents, so he also needs to be betting big.

Point taken. Thank you.

Something new...mind blown. How does that work? I tell the dealer I want to buy that? Gotta act quickly. Or do you notice someone not playing his DC6/8 and work it out before the next one?
I love this game even more, now!

It has to be the right situation. Mostly I run into minimum bettors, so can't think of a way to do it with them.
Expect the person to be suspicious and unmotivated to cooperate.
If a $25 bettor, clearly you can offer him $26, directly, for his bet, shove it over to him. You may have to pay more to get him to do it. You are counting on the dealers to 'not care', but possibly they will consider it still his money on a win, the guy has to give it to you.
double checking now that player's edge, stay tuned if a 6 or 8, 6 ways to win and 5 ways to lose even money. So [6/11]-[5/11] = 0.0909090909090909
$2.27 is your profit, on average [you can be unlucky], on a $25 bet
PS: note you have given away $1 already , if not more somehow
Thank you.
Find a guy at the table who makes a pass line bet but never takes odds.
Ask him if YOU can use your money to put an odds bet behind his PL bet.
Which cruise line?Quote: JoelDezeThe only thing that drives me nuts is blackjack max bet is $300 on the ship.
What minimum?
