Did a search of field bet related topics before posting, and couldn't find any that addressed my hypothetical.
What would be the House Edge if a casino added "5" to their field bet, but lowered the 12 and 2 to even money?

If I remember right, there would be 20 ways to win and only 16 to lose giving the player the edge.

As an aside, I always check to see if either the 2 or 12 pays 3:1 when playing craps. I still don't play the field though;)

I read from scarne that Having the five instead of the 4 with double 2/12 is even money, and Having a regular layout with triple 2/12 is even money. Santa Ana runs this one.

[2/36]*2=1/9 wins for 2, 12
otherwise 6,7,8,4 lose = 5+6+5+3=19 ways to lose
means 15 other ways to win even money
[15/36]+[1/9]-[19/36] = 0 surprisingly enough
The Santa Anna acc. to one report only has the no vig on 4/10 [laying?] and has dropped the deal on the field.
I am out of time and can't check it out

lots of pay tables for the Field in photo
the last 2 are most common I have seen
<<<<>>>>
old photos from movies show the 2,3,4,9,10,11,12 in the Field with
NO 2x on 2 and/or 12
John Wayne had the 5 in the Field on tables he played on
and No 4 and no 2x payouts
