was there a lot of people watching the game? Not sure if I would really care if I was playing with him unless the crew was to busy watching him and overpaying me.

I came close to this about 9 years ago =p... First ever trip to Vegas and they let my young buddy (both 21 though) and I right up to the rail on the other end of their table at the Belagio ($100 min table and we had maybe $500 for the whole trip ha). There was 4 people playing all at the other end. I watched Phil take out a marker for $100,000 and with ONE woman's 30 minute roll make $1 million dollars in about 40 minutes total. Right before her roll he shot and did fairly well. He obviously knew my friend and I were admiring him as we were big poker fans/players at the time so he kept looking at us and saying things like "You have no idea how good I shot that" after rolling the hard 8 he wanted. It was a shock to see him so vibrant with energy/comments because I'd only ever seen him at a poker table, where he looks like a zombie lol.
That's awesome you got to play with him. I'm sure it was fun. We don't need to know numbers, to respect the privacy, but can you simply share "up/down" status for both you and Mr. Ivey?

Well that was pretty hostile. This is a public internet site. It is perfectly reasonable to withhold your own financial details from the public, and prudent to withhold information about other people's finances.

I hope you have something much better than "I played with Phil Ivey" on your tombstone!! Being "that guy" is fun, but it isn't like curing cancer or anything. I've been "that guy" to peers in some celebrity stuff...it is fleeting and better as a memory than something to memorialize!!

I don't think he is an authority figure or an idol; I just find it interesting that so many brand new members have come in by calling out longstanding members recently. There is a pattern to it...one which the mods are keenly aware of and keep their finger on the triggers to take care of quickly when the issue is verified.
You'll likely break a rule in your next post...

I've played at the same table as Ivy in the private Mahogany room in Crown Casino in Melbourne. At the time it was only a tub and he was maxing out his own personal limit pretty much everything. $10k line with full double odds, $64k across all the numbers, $10k come every roll with full odds and leaving the number up as well. He was quite hostile towards anyone else who wanted to play or watch so didn't hang around long. He must have complained about other being able to play as they got him his own private tub in one of the private salon rooms the next day.

I got my Full Tilt money (and had 99% of my money in Stars thank Jesus), but it was no thanks to him though. I am still shocked PokerStars bailed Full Tilt out and that's the only reason players got paid.

If you were to take backers, sponsors, etc., out of the game and make them pay their own way, you'd never hear of these people anymore considering today's huge fields. These guys would go broke.

The fact that Phil Ivey does NOT concern himself at all with DI speaks volumes.
He seems to understand the nature of AP, and he is not reported to be a bone arranger when he goes to let it all out at the craps tables.
