Hi, I was at Goldies Casino in Seattle yesterday, and I was playing double deck blackjack and the pay table for the lucky ladies side bet was different from what it is on the site Wizardofodds,

the paytable was

1000 to 1 Q of hearts pair & dealer has BJ
200 to 1 Q of hearts pair
20 to 1 Matched 20 (same rank and suit)
9 to 1 Suited 20
4 to 1 Unsuited 20

With the above pay table in a double deck game what is the house edge?
Also if I am counting using the hi-lo system, What must the TC be in order to beat it?

I can't say for sure but I have been told you need the TC to be => 10 when betting Lucky Ladies.

This pay table is better than the common pay table 'A', but actually a little worse than pay table 'B'. It is pretty close to pay table 'B' so we'll look into that.

With 2 decks, pay table 'B' has a house edge of 24.94%, which is almost identical to the house edge on pay table 'A' and six decks. So it is likely that the casino compensated for the worse odds of lucky ladies when using 2 decks vs 6 decks (where it is usually offered) by using the better pay table.

Regardless, all lucky ladies bets have a very high house edge. This is apparently required because it is a side bet that is very vulnerable to card counting. Basically, the house edge changes dramatically based on the count.

However, the count has to be very high to overcome the house advantage. According to blackjack in color, lucky ladies has an advantage at a true count of +7 or higher. This is assuming the regular 6-deck game. The house edge on your game is actually a bit higher, but I think the index should be almost the same. You could use +8 to be safe.

Obviously these counts are rare in all but the best games. If you are counting anyway, and come across a very favorable count, it can have a huge advantage and you should make the bet. However, if your normal bet is raised with the count and you all of a sudden make a lucky ladies bet that you never made before, this combination could set off some big red flags.
