Hi Guys
I am working on some rudimentary blackjack simulations for "fun" and wanted to double check for someone more knowledgable on blackjack and/or maths what the theoretical maximum number of hits is in a 8 deck game? Assuming no concern for expectation and a fresh deck, in a worst case scenario how many hits could you make if As and 2s came in the most extreme possible order?
Apologies if this is elsewhere, as I could not find it, but did see a question that Wizards figured out saying that the probability of a 12 card 17 in a six deck game was soemthing above one in 200 trillion.
many thanks

Depending on the rules, a soft 18 is a hit, therefore, the maximum size hand would be 13 cards:
7 aces, followed by a four, followed by 5 aces, for a total of 17.
7 aces, followed by a four, followed by 5 aces, for a total of 17.

Thanks for your reply!
Mistake my end, sorry, I was not clear before, what I meant is for a player's perspective, not a dealer's (but appreciate my comment about the former Q was confusing)- i.e. if you were a player and were hitting even when you had 20 etc...i.e not a "real life" scenario"
But for example, you had a 2, lots of aces and then on soft 20 hit again, got another 2 and started hitting again and getting Ace after Ace etc.

If you are going to hit soft 20, you might get 20 cards: ten aces, a 2, nine more aces

I got it to 18 hits in total, using one 2, 18 aces and last card can be anything as you dont care if you bust or make 21.

That would be hitting hard 20, not just soft 20.
