Hi everyone, I'm new here, but really love all the great info on the site and in the forums. I've played at casinos here on the east coast for a few years now, but I've got my first trip to Vegas coming up in a couple weeks! I enjoy playing $10 min tables where I can raise or lower my bets as I see fit, but the only problem with this is that I see according to the BJ survey that most, if not all, of the $10 min tables on the Strip are H17.
I have the standard BS for a dealer standing on S17 memorized but I know there are some slight variations for tables that are H17, I just don't know what they are. Help please?

I hope to break even this week. I need the money.

Welcome to the forums.
The only variations are double 11 v. A and A-7 v. 2 and A-8 v. 6. There are some surrender differences as well. You could stick to S17 strategy and be just as well off. They differences matter very, very little in the long run. I'd be more concerned with seeking out a better game than learning the variations.
Believe it or not, you can find a $10-$15 S17 game at certain times at MGM, in the pit by the high-limit slots.

Thank you.
At the MGM eh? I'll have to make sure I make a stop there. I'll be staying at the Paris, but I'm sure I'll make my way up and down the Strip. Thanks for the info!

If you are counting, I would be more concerned with penetration. I would play H17 with excellent pen over S17 with lousy pen all things being equal. There are 6 changes to basic strategy for H17, three more doubles and three more surrenders. Go to Wizard of Odds from here and print out all the charts you want.
I second teddys' take on the MGM Grand. With a house edge of 0.28% and around 75% pen, it is one of the better shoe games on or off the Strip and unlike the other MGM properties this one will rate $10 players.
