although i usually win in the golden gate in vegas, (and on my release from jail took 1 free nite there from my casino host) and proceeded to win $1200 before i left vegas for reno, i usually have pretty bad luck here in reno. so much so that i got multiple offers for free nites at several casinos. ive been getting these emails for a year or so and didnt make it back to reno til this week, since i wanted to play some poker out of vegas with all the recent commotion.
i purchased my flight out of reno for wednesday so i wont be here much longer but im sad to say i came here with over 15k and am now down to only 12k. i seem to always lose here, mostly in the silver legacy. reno is a bad place for me to play BJ, because i only play shoe games. and theres very few of those here. reason why? because in single and double deck i feel the dealers shuffle whenever they feel like it or if u raise the bet too much so counting is useless unless u play a shoe. the only way u can get away with huge bet spreads.
im not even winning at poker im down about 700 in my last 16 sessions. won only 2 of them. and thats horrible considering i normally win about 3000 a month
the dealers here still piss me off and so do the players but i would never say in person the stuff i wrote on my blog venting steam before i made it private. and no i havent done it since making it private. they let u know theyre hustling for tips, they preferential shuffle if u dont play with a shoe, they point it out when u dont make the sucker bet to make u feel bad for playing wisely, they try to get others to join when u would rather play online, and u cannot find a game without a side sucker bet slowing the game down tremendously. and then when others tip, they hurt the other dealers by putting the tip on the sucker bet instead of the main bet, which isnt being fair to the dealers they share the tip with.
tonight i had my first BJ win here, i won back $607 which puts me back over 12k again. i had been at the lowest roll id been in years.
i would like to meet the BJ professionals who plays shoes here in reno. stop in tomorrow night and say hi in the nugget in sparks. id like to learn how the locals make money from shoes here and see what they think of how i play. they give me lots of free rooms here. only BJ bans i ever got in reno were at cal neva and rail city , but this was back when i used to play more than just shoe games so its real easy to see u can count unless u play a shoe, then they have no idea. so i dont understand why all counters dont play shoes. explain this.
i feel like i won because i had to sit out so much, but im wondering how much i can without overdoing it? and i doubt it makes much difference, but as low as my roll is im scared to bet in negative counts.
some guy wrote a book once in which 10,000 was enough of a roll, but i seriously think u need about 3-4 times this. i worry of going broke all the time, which is why its such a stressful life.

Great story. Reno (and Laughlin and Mesquite) generally have better games than Las Vegas. But Las Vegas just has so many more options, that usually something will be just as good or better. Even with only $12,000, you can still bet up to $200 per hand and be ok -- but at $5 or $10 table you have to walk away after showing your max bet and stay away for a little while. Which is much easier in Las Vegas with so many games available. That's also why double deck is perfectly fine. It doesn't matter if they find out you're spreading with the count if you've made your bets and walked away

That is probably because they have to, else why would people play there.Quote: TomGReno (and Laughlin and Mesquite) generally have better games than Las Vegas.
I may like to joke from time to time that the only draw for Laughlin is free Geritol, but its obviously not literally true. And of course one does not have to be born in Mesquite in order to play there. Its just that simple little casinos just do not have the massive overhead that places in Las Vegas have. Nor do they have an over supply of experienced dealers available to them. Fewer players mean the casinos have to be real nice to them.
No casino in Reno can really afford to chase customers away by shuffling all the time or booting out players who raise their bets from time to time.
Now hand held two decks versus shoe decks, well the math is beyond me but I wouldn't worry. Even Vegas will keep you happy provided you stay away from the obvious Sweat The Money joints such as South Pointe where they will boot you out if you even use the phrase "I'm counting on you".

i just assume they will shuffle the deck anytime i raise the bet alot, so i stick to playing shoes. anyway i think the best games for a very small roll would probably be in colorado and ill find out when i get there about midnite wed night thurs morning. if the BJ games dont pan out, there might not be any other hustlers checking the golden egypt, alladins wild, ocean magic, etc.

Do you really think this is how you go about networking? Do you really believe any professional BJ player is going to meet at a publicly posted place and time?
Furthermore, you post far too much detail of your activities IMO. I don't know how this hasn't bitten you in the ass.
There are a number of members here, past and current, as well as members on other forums that post way too much detail of their AP activities, sometimes in real time or almost real time. I just don't get it.
