Shuffle Master

I was in my local store and I had seen a technician cleaning a deck shuffler in one of the pits. I noticed he was touching the screen as he was taking off the sides. I could not see the display, but what does anyone have any idea what he could be doing? Is it possible a shuffle sequence was being programmed or programmed it not be to random. I know that this store also uses this same type of Shuffle Master to sequence the decks back in order. I had witnessed this in the high limit Baccarat tables when they are closed. Any thoughts?

The screen has settings for each type of game that is dealt differently... # of decks ... etc ...

Different games will spit out different numbers of cards per hand, for example. Some decks feature a joker. Some machines have card recognition software. Other machines can sort a deck back into its original order. In Pai Gow the order of cards can tell the dealer what the house way is for any hand.

Let it ride gives 2 cards out at a time, 3 card poker gives 3 cards, paigow 7 cards. Those have to be programmed.

They could also be cleaning them. There are testing modes to make sure everything is working.

1. Shuffler software keeps track of all the cards that have been dealt, in the order that they have been dealt, on each and every hand. This is so casino security can, if they need to, access records of the hands as dealt by the shuffler and compare with the video images - as a safeguard against certain types of cheating.

2. Shuffler software usually counts the cards and assures that all 52 unique cards are in the deck. Again, as a safeguard against cheating by players or dealers.
