I was just wondering if anyone has made an estimate of the approximate time that it takes to deal a shoe (1/2 shoe, etc. ) of Blackjack. Is there a good "formula" that you would recommend eg. % penetration, № # of players, etc.
Thanks, guys!

Varies so much. I'd say 15mins is a good ballpark. 10 mins if things are smooth (little coloring, buy-ins, thinking...)

20 min if you're at a fuller or slow table... but yeah, a decent ballpark.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Also, the age of the dealer can affect the time to deal a shoe.

An older dealer in their 60's or more, will take a painfully long time dealing each card and often calling out the number as they deal. Some older dealers I've seen have unsteady hands when shuffling and dealing, will deal each card with their hand twitching.

On the flip side, younger or foreign dealers with no personality will deal the cards as fast as humanly possible and scoop the cards and money so fast you forgot what your hand was or didn't even get to see the card that busted you land on the felt! I often have to ask them to pull the cards back out to make sure I did in fact bust. Or sometimes I'll pull a 21 and they are reaching in to take the money and I have to stop then and say"Woah, slow down partner, I got 21!" To which they scoff, "OH, I thought it was 22"
