I'm quite competent and capable of using my words quite well... and I gamble.

A well-rounded individual would have understood what I wrote in my last twenty posts or so. It's not about competency, though that too can suffer under the strain of dysfunction. Luck or determination and impressiveness do not make a person exceptional. Functionality is really about doing one thing well to do every thing else well in a general sense; and versa, doing many things well to do one thing well. It's the self-reinforcing of this sort of busyness which is the true gist of the saying, "If you want something done [well], give it to a busy person." Dysfunction is the opposite of this, and just spirals downward into life on an internet forum, or sitting on a chair in a casino, surrounded by loud noises and complete strangers (while trying to stay "focused").

We had ~15 competent people whom could all use their words well!

Is the Wizard one who can well "use his words"?

Believers are the ones who keep at it long after they've been told it can't be done. On the other hand, the real experts shouldn't care about the crackpots. But, if the wrong answer begs the question, then the wrong question begs the answer.

I have a full time 9-5 job, AP'd with my team for a total of ~1,000 hours last year (which is just table time... not even travel/programming/math/scouting/etc/etc), train MMA a couple times per week, play/train/etc with my dog each and every day, date, participate in sports/athletics (golf/tennis/etc), play video games at a high level, and find time to touch myself every now and then... I think that qualifies as busy.

You're coming to an online "gambling" forum to talk about how gambling (in general) is dysfunctional. You're quite obviously a troll, and a bad one at that. At least pick a topic you might get 1 or 2 people on your side with... If you just alienate everyone right away you'll just be cast out/ignored/banned/etc. I mean, you could come on here and say you can make the Martingale work. Yeah, you'd lose points for originality, but at least you'd be a better troll than you're trying to be. #SAD

Good post, mamat, thanks for the detailed introspection.

Fwiw last statistic I saw said 1 in 7 smokers die of lung cancer/tobacco related cancer. I would guess the ratio is further reduced for the age range you mentioned, though I could be wrong; seems like everyone I've known who got smoke related cancers were in their 50s or later. But you're talking genetic predisposition, not just the environmental factor, so all I have is a guess.

My smoking info is from COPD research in the 1990s, so probably badly out-of-date.

At the time, I was living in Los Angeles, and went into the hospital for some breathing problems.
Turns out, Los Angeles Smog kills about 10% of your lung capacity. :-(

you all are pretty much idiots IMO, pay no mind to them, continue your way but alteast have 100max bets in your access at all times, and as long your RoR is under 49% you are playing a winning game

the thing pissed me off the most is 68k is not enough and how it was a mistake to spend 30kish on a car, wtf how is 68k not enough?

i highly doubt anyone on here has anything over 30k$ in their bank aacounts let alone have the balls to put on the felt baby so ignore them all and continue your winning ways brother

p.s ZenMaster goodjob taking sands pa for what their worth all their $$$25k$$$ goodjob

Hmm, if a personal insult is worth 3 days... What's ~100 personal insults worth?

...What math are you referring to? RoR is Risk of Ruin. A player can have an RoR of 90% and be playing a winning game (i.e. generating positive EV). A player can have an RoR of .1% and be playing a winning game. The risk tolerance and variance are going to shoot up and down throughout the scale, but so long as they're not double kelly or higher and playing a winning game, then RoR is just RoR... a likely hood that your current BR will dip down below your starting BR.

What you said about 49% RoR makes absolutely zero mathematical sense in regards to playing a winning game of blackjack... let alone it's just terrible advice for anyone actually trying to take the game seriously as a profession.

Oh, I beg to differ. There are a lot of talented and successful AP's on this forum, as well as game creators/etc.

I highly doubt, if you count cards, that you have a winning game... enjoy that 48% RoR lol

Sigh.

Take a break, sid. 3 days for personal insult. No multiplier for 1st offense.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
