I'm a math Ph.D. student in Iowa City looking to play recreationally. There are about a half dozen casinos within two hours of me: Riverside, Meskwaki, Diamond Jo, Jumers, Isle of Capri, Rhythm City, Wild Rose, etc. Does anyone have any experiences with these casinos in the eastern part of Iowa? I'd be grateful for any insight...

I played at Riverside last summer. I was there during the day on a weekday. Very low minimums. $5. I think I remember the rules being: 8deck, S17, DOA, DAS up to 4 hands, No RSA, no surrender. It was very friendly and a nice facility. It's got a golf and conference center on the property if I remember correctly. Very much a low roller local joint. But very nice (it's pretty new) for that type of property. I'd go there again. My father who plays video poker and was with me that day always enjoys playing at the bar VP tables. They have beer specials during the day. Isle of Capri I found more crowded and less welcoming. I was there on a weekend night so I'm sure that was part of the difference. I didn't play BJ at Isle so couldn't tell you. Good Luck. Go Hawkeyes.

Nothing amazing in Dubuque. Diamond Jo has better mailers than Mystique.

OK for recreational play, neither is great for counting. Run some VP to bump up the mailers.

While run by Boyd, Diamond Jo seems to have its own, separate player rewards system - it's not B Connected.

Haven't ventured further into Iowa. Good luck.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Anyone have RECENT information on MESHWAKI BINGO, CASINO AND HOTEL in Tama, Idaho.

Slots?
Crap tables or tubs?
Bingo (edge)?
Commission free Baccarat
Carnival games and side bets
BJ??

Its for a friend who lives "nearby" and goes there mainly for the comedy acts and free beverage fountains.

It seems to be a very large and profitable casino... perhaps gambling really is the only industry that has been growing by leaps and bounds recently.

Difficult to get information on slot return when Indian gaming laws are involved.

Their website doesn't reveal anything about their payouts on BJ or side bets, etc.
