Also, when I'm in a bad count I want other players to enter. Do you have any suggestions on what I should say then?
If they ask me to wait, I ignore them.
"I could really use a little help changing up the cards." Or you could jump out if the cards suck.

There you go. Nothing you say is going to make a difference. They'll just have to root for me to lose. Sometimes they're not disappointed. :-)
P.S. There are other players at the table?

Wow!!!! You can't leave us hanging there, what happened next?

Yeah, I wanna hear the rest of this too. I hope the dealer and floor took your side?
If the house doesn't limit mid-shoe entry, in you go.

This could have been one of those memorable stories that get told and retold but it wasn't. The floor was standing right there and saw the whole thing. She told the guy to behave and told me I could replace my bet if I wanted. If I wanted? I played the hand and everyone pushed the dealer's 20. More 10s came out on the next hand and it was time to leave.
As I was leaving, the floor called me to the side and told me the guy was having a bad day. Well excuse me! She then made an apology that didn't ring sincere to me. I could have made a stink but this was one of my regular casinos. I don't sweat the small stuff and don't want the attention.

This never gets old.

This is exactly right. The key to a long and successful counting career is staying under the radar. Stuff like this is a perfect example. Back counting and jumping in is already drawing attention. By not drawing further attention to yourself, it helps. As you said ...don't sweat the small stuff.
As an aside if I'm playing a no mid-shoe table and the count is really crappy, and other players are waiting one of my best moves is to ask for a shuffle "so that they can come in". Three benefits: 1. The pit will almost always accommodate your request thereby saving you from playing the rest of a bad shoe. 2. Not that I care really but it gets you in good with any other players, which makes them less likely to bitch (hopefully) about any index plays you may make. 3. I think it makes you look less like a counter in general, makes you seem like just another ploppy, since the floor rightly assumes that counters want less people at the table not more. In other words it's free cover. Or nearly free, you do have to potentially share a good shoe upcoming.
