So, I am heading down this weekend and wondering if anyone has questions they would like me to ask the staff, or any photos you wish me to take?
Suggestions and comments welcome!
Also please ask what's the least they're willing to take for the casino? I'm counting my pennies and think I might have enough.
Quote: onenickelmiracleAlso please ask what's the least they're willing to take for the casino? I'm counting my pennies and think I might have enough.
And I thought you'd be willing to pay one nickel... :)
But then again, they really didn't want people like me. I didn't spend $500 at a club for a $30 bottle of Grey Goose, nor would I pay $300 for a room when every other casino in town provided me free rooms. I am happy at a buffet, so again, they really didn't want me.
And so, since they didn't want me, I didn't come back. Obviously they were correct and I was wrong.
Glad to see they are doing fine with Kevin's business plan.
And Ace, I honestly hope you don't even think of sitting down at one of their BJ tables.
Steal as much crap as you can get. Anything with Logo anything odd. Not joking. I loved that place.
Ask about the progressive overage.
What did you play only BJ? My Gf had very little play on 9/6 jacks with a wheel spin to boot. She got offered all kinds of crap. I was impressed with the offers.Quote: BozAlso going down this weekend and hitting up the Mussel Bar for some beers since it is not owned by Revel. While somewhat sad for the employees, I see this as a vindication for every gambler who was treated like shit by Kevin and Crew from Day One. I have not gambled there since the first month when my table play that would have gotten me anything at any other AC casino, didn't give me enough for 2 tacos and a beer at Revel.

I really don't think there will be much of a market for Revel souvenirs. Chip collectors all have their revel chips already. What other market is there? People reminiscing about the 2 years the property was unsuccessfully open?
Quote: BozAlso going down this weekend and hitting up the Mussel Bar. . .
Went there and had the worst service of any restaurant EVER—a few months later gave it a second chance…after sitting at table without a waiter/waitress even acknowledging me for 15 minutes, I walked out

My dad plays penny and nickel slots and occasionally quarter video poker…
He goes there for an afternoon maybe once a month
he now gets $30/week slot play
I've been loyal almost every week since opening and for August they gave me $15/week match play LOLOLOLOL (and this is the first match play they've given me since October, 2013 when they gave me $15/week)

They can just go back to the Aria
I agree for the most part. Very small risk to take some free crap and a few $1 chips.Quote: sodawaterQuote: AxelWolfSteal as much crap as you can get. Anything with Logo anything odd. Not joking. If someone had something cool enough and odd enough I would buy it. Also the fact it as been open such a short time may mean less stuff available.
I'm thinking about collecting old casino stuff again(not chips so much). I have lots of rare stuff. Will trade for sports memorabilia. I have tons of old slot cards, I have a one of a kind Stardust slot card different then all the others. It's white and red, I think I have the only one. They issued them for a special points competition you had to turn it in to receive your money everyone won min of $250, I didn't turn mine in.
When slot card prices boomed I did ok But half my cards got melted in the sun one day. I had like 20 Desert Inn cards I have only a few now.

EB, I consider myself a pretty dry person to begin with. I fear that after one or two drinks with you I might turn into dust.

Blackjack and Craps. Same play I give CZR and Borgata and get far more in return. I understand they made some changes over time and loosened up the comps, but my first impression was enough to keep me away from their tables.

I have not had those issues the few times I was there, but the beer selection is the best in AC as far as limited imports.

We had terrible service at the Italian place, I don't remember the name of it. In fact, the only place we had good service was at the taco truck. Bad service at the breakfast place upstairs, bad service at the sandwich place over by the windows. Bad service when Mrs M needed a slot tech because her ticket stuck in a machine, I finally had to go find someone with a suit.
Lovely building, but there are no mysteries surrounding Revel's failure.

I've been lurking and reading every thread on the Blackjack forums (finally done) for the past couple months. As someone 'new' to these particular forums I can't see why on Earth you'd go back to Revel! If they called you and wanted you back, you should have immediately requested a $500 free play, RFB comp, and told them about the disgraceful $15 match play sent to you when you play 100-500 bets.
I think they've read your threads and maybe don't think you're a big threat counting wise (=/ SC) but perhaps they don't like how you've been getting a ton of higher valued comps and playing 'possibly' a break even game. So I personally think they're just F'ing with you. Especially because you said they would change dealers on you NON stop, even after you asked the one dealer if she was supposed to go on break or not!
If you're going to go to Revel, I would love to see you play 1 session, win ANYTHING ($100 - $1,000) and just instantly leave and go to another casino for the rest of the weekend. They've treated you like garbage (in my opinion) for the limits you play, they deserve nothing.
edit - The one thing I've always loved most about your reports are the pictures! Makes it feel more real while reading and makes for a better story (in my opinion).

Revel is closing in a few days. None of the employees gives a shit about whether Ace or anyone else is getting a breakeven game.

Do they actually have a finalized closing date? Of all the threads I've been reading they've been "closing" for the past year...
Some random pics

Officially 5am September 2nd.
And it would be hilarious if someone won a million on that "spin a million" thing.

Merely because I am here does not necessarily mean I will play here--I am happy to be here to thank all the dealers and staff I have become friendly with and to wish them well--having dinner elsewhere tonight and might play elsewhere - I am not jonesing for a blackjack fix at the moment
I added some pics to this thread a few minutes ago
Enjoy!
My question to employees will be to ask if "Kevin" is around anywhere.

6 am!
They added an hour. I have no idea why.

She'd better get that in cash. No way would I take a check from Revel at this point.

Apparently he owns the land that revel was built on
Also, Angel management group that owns HQ and HQ day club made 32million (from the books they show Revel) last year
If only Revel had the foresight to actually own and run their nightclubs

I would believe info from the internet before I believed current employees. I have worked at a place that was closing and the rumors were amazing.

Is Hard Rock going to get a lower hourly rate on the million dollars a week the place is hemorrhaging on utilities?

I love ya, Ace but these are the same employees who told you Trop was buying it months ago and Steve Wynn was walking around the place. They are grabbing at straws, which is understandable based on the situation they are in.
I may end up being wrong, but I just dont see it happening. And Bob McDevitt is not easy to deal with.

Desperate employees always believe every rumor
somebody makes up, because they're, well, desperate.
Next it will be Trump who's looking at it.

well trump just had his bid to buy the Bills rejected so he has an extra 809 million laying around.

I think you took a picture of their high limit (ultra?) lounge before, but it'd be cool to see a pic of any of the high limit lounges you do play in =). If you wouldn't mind sharing the limits / # of deck options I'd greatly appreciate it too! Possibly putting an AC trip together sometime before the end of the year.

Awesome, most appreciated. I always enjoy your trip reports =).
Quote: UTHfanhmmm, decisions. Stay around here for Horseshoe grand opening in Baltimore or see Revel before it's gone forever.
Is there a barren field or an empty gymnasium you can go to? That would pretty well simulate the Revel experience without the costly and time-consuming travel.

I've got $20 in resort dollars burning a hole in my account. Might spend them next week.
or not. If it turns into a Hard Rock...that'd be cool.

Last time I stayed at Revel, it was 88 degrees outside and my room's AC was off and the shades were open when I checked in. Making it 87 degrees inside the room.
One thing I will give to Revel is that its AC works extremely well. I had that room down to 61 before I went to bed.
