Just at airport waiting at the gate here in rainy NY
Here comes the sun...do do do do
I for one haven't watched lawyers from states other than my own try divorce / family law cases: it could prove an interesting diversion.
Quote: MrVWhile it is probably the LAST place you'd want to visit while on vacation, you might consider checking out how The Brethren do business in Clark county by going to the local court house and sitting in on a case or two.

I did not being a suit with me and would feel disrespectful as an attorney walking into court without wearing one.
On a similar front, a client of mine who promised to let me enjoy my vacation has already called twice, emailed twice and texted five times:(

If you're not wearing a suit, who's going to know you're an attorney?
If you're looking for something to do outside typical casino fare, the 51s are playing tomorrow night...

If you really needed one, you can rent a suit on the second floor of the Cosmo. They rent gowns and nightclub attire there...all designer duds. I'm just sayin'...
Quote: aceofspadesWho what where
The LV 51's are the local Minor league baseball team and they play at Cashman Field
PS: Have a great trip and hit em hard!!!! Oh, and play good cards too :)

You can buy a new one with your winnings off the first shoe

I know a guy who will sell you two suits with all the fixings for $100. He is Russian and the store looks dodgy but just tell him "The Pick" sent you :)

Here is an idea. Enjoy downtown for the "other activities" you can find there and leave the serious stuff for when you get to Aria?
I know you enjoy blackjack so maybe my comment is just dumb :)
Just spoke to a party put dealer who informed me every blackjack table in Vegas is H17 -- when I told her she was wrong she said that I must not play that often lol
Quote: aceofspadesWell I'm sure my host would not appreciate me not playing

Tell your host that you are not happy with the games and you won't be playing there.
If they expect to compete with the strip to attract mid- and high-rollers then they need to provide comparable games.

He said I would need a high credit line...whatever that means

Huh? Does that mean that they will give you your own game with your own rules if you are a big enough player?
I'd just take a cab over to the strip and play a good game.

I believe a lot of places will do that.

The six deck game that you play at Revel has a house edge of .42%. There is a six deck game at Golden Nugget with a house edge of .48% and double deck at .45%, assuming the Wizards information is correct and up to date. Go ahead and give them the play. It won't cost that much.
H17, does not automatically have to be a deal breaker. Look for good penetration.
Quote: AxiomOfChoiceYeah but the double deck game at Aria is 0.28%
Exactly
I am not a happy camper

It's the best and the most closely watched game on the Strip but ace feels obligated to give the Nugget some play in return for the comps.

This is the problem with having your friend as a host. Mixing business with pleasure is no good.
I would tell them that I'd only give them play if I got the game I wanted.
Sat down to play 2d
Played my usual 100-200/hand
Guy to my left won about 80% of his hands over the course of an hour
I lost every hand the first shuffle and within 4 shuffles was down 2k
Took the better part of the last 30mins to gain it all back
The floor person told me to double a 12 v 7 saying he had a feeling )of course I didn't and of course I won the hand lol)
Back to even now and taking a dinner break
Trip is Even
Quote: djatcSeems like a good enough reason to tell the host you don't play unless you get S17 since you're used to it on the strip at (insert high end casino).
If you are betting $100+ a hand virtually every Strip casino has a S17 game. As mentioned, there are exactly zero downtown. The one I can think of that don't are Excalibur, Casino Royale, Quad, Riviera, Circus Circus and Stratosphere. None of those have a high limit room that I am aware of.
Quote: PokeraddictAs mentioned, there are exactly zero downtown.
Wonder why that is. In the land of single deck 3:2 no less. I'm guessing they want the big bettors to head to the strip instead of taking their action?
Yeah I was up 1500 then got torn up lost that then lost 5k then got 2k back played about 10 hours
Details upon waking
We've been on the 23rd floor of the RUSH tower since Sunday and will be checking out at 11.
No problems at all with the room, the elevator needs a room key to access the upper tower floors.
2 new restaurants in the past 2 weeks, 24 hour Claim Jumper(which replaces Carson Street Cafe) and Cadillac Tequilla and Sports Bar offering Mexican fare.
The vibe here has taken a definite turn. I was bothered by 4 panhandlers during the daytime playing VP in the main casino.

The room is great...did see a guy throws sign on a stantion at a bartender last night and challenge the bartender to a fight.
So I started out nicely last night on a mini-run up about 1500...then the roof caved in
at one point I lost every single hand in a shuffle of 2d
Then sat at a table with a guy who was apparently drinking heavily and decided to double. 6,3 v dealer 7 (despite his asking the dealer and me if the book says to double)
He pulled a 4
I had my double at this time...an 8,3 v the dealer 7
I double and get a 4
Of court the dealer has an ace under for 18
On the next hand the first card out was a ten, which would have allowed me to win my double
I switched tables at this point and, right as I was about to play guess who wanders over and was "I gotta play with my partna'"
Countless bad decisions and I move again...again he follows me
I was down about 4800 at this point and he finally left
I ended up getting a mini-run back up to 2k but was exhausted and called it a night
This morning I played one shuffle of 2d and picked up 600
Now having a protein bar and going to play some more
Trip is -2400

Why do you care about his bad decisions?
BTW, doubling a 9 vs a 7 is not THAT bad, especially at double deck. It's not right, but it's close. Is that the worst decision he made?
(I recently saw someone stand with a 2,2 vs a 4, so maybe my bar for bad decisions is a little different from yours)

I don't really care about it but when I am hitting some horrific variance it becomes a pet peeve

I get upset for the opposite reason. If I am losing big and the other player at the table is playing perfect basic strategy, I wish he had been making more mistakes.
Started with a blackjack and was able to capitalize on it with a second one to follow
A woman next to me was playing 1k/hand and was winning and winning
Guy at third base was still remaining from last night when I was playing at 3am and had still not gone to bed
In that shuffle I got another 500 back
A few shuffles of up and down and I then hit a nice shuffle where I was dealt 4 doubles in the shuffle and won each one
That gave me another 1k

So I was sightseeing on Fremont Street to get the full downtown experience
Upon walking towards the "Mermaids" casino one of the girls dressed like Carmen Miranda approached and asked if she could lei/lay me (as I did not see any leis I looked at her quizzically) -- she said well, really I will bead you but lei/lay is more fun to say
I asked if I had to flash her to earn the beads and she informed me that it was not required but that if I returned at 6pm when she was getting off her shift we could make other arrangements to earn the beads
Lol gotta love it
