FYI - the "auto qualifiers" for the $500k bonus hand are those persons who were invited that have either (a) lost $150k in any one visit to Aria or MGM Grand in calendar year 2013 or (b) aggregate losses of $300k or more at Aria or MGM Grand in calendar year 2013)
Quote: beachbumbabsWow, ace. Is there an entry fee, or did only people who "auto qualify" get invited? Biggest tournament I ever got an invite to was $100K, and it wasn't winner-take-all.
Babs - it is invitation only - no fee. As for the auto qualifiers...that only applies to the special $500k bonus after the tournament is over.
Quote: BuzzardWill Evenbob be invited as your coach ?
Yeah - and you can be my cut man
Quote: rdw4potusHow is the $500k won? Usually, it's a suited BJ on that one hand or some other equally difficultly achieved hand...
The invitation did not say. It just states one hand versus the dealer. As I get more details I will let you all in on it. I am more concerned with the $250k tournament prize than the $500k bonus (which may or may not hinge upon some outrageous hand as you stated)
Quote: BuzzardDAMN Can't do it ACES. December 21st longest night of the year. My anniversary. Would go, but well Josie says the 45th is special. SIGH
*ahem* Too special to spend in VEGAS? It's the specialest place on earth! What better place to spend an anniversary. Plus, you could watch Ace on the 21st and watch Mission a couple days later. Nothing says 45th anniversary like watching a guy shove McNuggets in his face for an hour:-)

This means a special voodoo schaden doll for
the occasion. I'm already anticipating the
experience of Ace not letting me down..

I knew it was only a matter of time...
Insanirt : Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I'll have to custom order one like this, with my
own inscriptions on it.

Will you be posting photos of it with pins in various places? Will you take a poll on the forums for what spot to pin next?

I do need hints on what to write on the body
parts. This isn't easy, it has to be done right.
The invite looks nice by the way.

Thanks _ I am sure Bob is throwing darts at it already
But, it is much appreciated for a fellow board member to be rooting for another board member

I rooted for you today and look what happened,
you lost, just as I predicted.

Actually, he could watch me on the 21st and then watch Ace on the 21st, except I don't know what time the BJ tournament is. In the McNuggets thread, I either agreed to 3p.m. or 4p.m., forget which.
Ace, you know I'm always pulling for you! I'd love to watch the Blackjack tournament, but we already have an engagement at Main Street Station after the Challenge, and I think I can say that me and Wizard plan to make it a somewhat late night. If you get knocked out of the tournament, or if it ends, by all means, please shoot over to MSS. There are few things I'd enjoy more than meeting you in person.

Perfect! What a great way to spend an anniversary!

You high rollers. That's what makes the schaden so
enjoyable for me and my friends. You know, my
little stuffed friends..

I have yet to see any evidence of these so-called "friends"...
FYI Bob - I might not be in AC next weekend either and, the weekend after that, I believe I will be at the Mohegan Sun

MS works for me. A trip report is a trip report.
Isn't that where gR8 plays?
Presumably, since the asterisk is only next to the "one hand against the dealer for $500,000" prize, the $250,000 for the Aria and MGM Grand segments are in cash - but it does say "all prizes," so I'm not so sure about that. I would ask a few questions first.
Quote: ThatDonGuyI wonder what they mean by, "All prizes awarded in nonnegotiable promotional chips"?

I have sent an email inquiry about this to my host.
The response I received from Aria
Quote:A non negotiable chip acts like a real chip, except the player may not "cash them in" immediately for cash. Any winnings generated from non negotiable chips are paid to player in cashable chips. It's equivalent to $250k cash in play. You may end of leaving with more if you win on tables.

It's not that bad, non-neg is the best kind of promo chip. Better than match play or "free play" which are generally a "use it once" and you lose the promo chip whether you win or lose. Basically it's like free slot play for table games. Run it through and you're left with the profits.
I mean, I wouldn't turn down a quarter mil in non-neg chips...

My next question being: If I have a bet out and I win the bet - do the promo chips remain in play or are they taken after each bet?

It means the tournament prize of $250k is given in promotional chips that can only be wagered - they cannot be cashed in. You have to play them until they are all gone (but you keep all the winnings paid in real chips along the way)

Lol, you're right, I got a jolt of schaden just reading
that. It sucks, it's the same as getting slot points on
a player card. You only get to keep what's left after
the machines slaughter you.

This still isn't a bad thing; go play some even money game for big bucks. It's like Bovada bonus money, but only has to be earned once, not 40x to cash. And they're comping you the entry fee, the room, maybe even the airfare/limo/etc. to come and play their game. Heck, ace, I'll dress up as a male lawyer and go in your place if you'll lend me your ID. I won't hit on any women for you, though. ;)
Quote: aceofspadesThere's the Bob we know and 'love'
You knew it would please me and you were
right. The thought of them having all that play
money and squirming in their seats as it
disappears.. Delightful.
Quote: beachbumbabsThis still isn't a bad thing; go play some even money game for big bucks.
Hopefully, they won't pull some stunt like setting special conditions on the chips ("we're sorry, sir, but with promotional chips, all odds on the pass line pay off at even money") or giving you one $500,000 chip so you can't play one side against the other (e.g. $180,000 on red, $180,000 on black, and $20,000 on green - either you end up with $180,000 cash plus $300,000 in promotionals ($180,000 plus the $120,000 not bet), or $340,000 cash plus the $120,000 promotionals not bet); eventually you will grind the promotionals down to over $400,000 cash).
Now watch the $500,000 hand be a pair of Aces - "what do you mean, I can't split them?"

If i won the tournament it would be $250k (the $500k is some post-tournament bonus).
If allowed, I would cover black, red and green in the appropriate amounts and walk away a guaranteed winner...
(I'm wondering how Bob would benefit from this though...???)

Horrible play. Grind it out on blackjack.
Blackjack at table max $50k? How would you play it?
