The following question popped to my mind and I didn't find an answer anywhere, so I wanted to share it:
Is there a way to get an advantage at an (online) Blackjack game in which only a single deck is used and you can play multiple hands at a time?
(for example 3 hands at the same time, BJ pays 6:5 ... I don't know if there are any better conditions like 5 hands or BJ pays 3:2 available online)
My idea was to fully use the minimum and maximum bets as follow:
- minimum bet on hand 1 (say $1)
- minimum bet on hand 2
- maximum bet on hand 3 (say $100)
The strategy would be to pay more attention on the third hand of course. This could be done by willingly busting the first two hands depending on the situation to get more cards on the table and therefore more information about how to play the third hand perfectly. Is this enough to swing the advantage into the players favour? If yes, how excactly? Any ideas?
Thank you very much for your help :)
So no you being able to play 3 spots under these conditions will not give you an advantage.

With 6:5 I'm not sure it's possible, but with 3:2 such a strategy can be very effective and is known as "depth charging." It is described (at least) in Snyder's "Big Book of Blackjack." But you basically need to know all your index numbers, far past the Illustrious 18, as you attain your edge by making very specific BS deviations on that last hand based on the cards seen.
Now if it's an online casino, you have to be absolutely sure that all hands are dealt out of the same deck. Some online games, or even in-casino BJ machines, will deal to each player out of their own shoe, with the dealer sharing a "virtual" shoe with each player, if that makes sense. If that is the case, depth-charging is useless as the previous hands have no bearing on your hand.
Again the house edge is very high with a 6:5 game, so I don't know if depth-charging would overcome it. I would guess not, but I have no idea really.
