Quote:Article“Stand if 16 is multi-card, or the result of a pair split.” (Note: According to Schlesinger, “When all multi-card 16s are taken into account, and the edges are weighted, it is wiser to stand on all of them rather than hit on all of them. There are some exceptions, but their level of complexity was too great to be enunciated on the strategy card. These exceptions, however, are catalogued by Michael Shackleford on his site, www.wizardofodds.com.”)
Now, is this strategy to be used against Dealer 7, 8, 9, 10, Ace up or just dealer 10 up?
Also, in a late surrender game, should you split 8's versus dealer 10 or surrender?
Quote: IbeatyouracesAs a counter, just stand on all 16's vs. 10 as it makes it easier. Also, you split 8's vs. 10 until the TC reaches a certain point and then you'd stand or surrender.
Thanks but I am actually asking for a friend of mine who is going to Vegas and does not count at all--she knows basic strategy but has read of these advanced plays...therefore, please keep advice geared towards the non-counters among us
Quote: IbeatyouracesFair enough. For her, never surrender 8,8 vs 10, always split, and stand on any multi-card 16 vs 10. You do hit it vs 7,8,9,A though.
That is weird the article did not specify only against 10's
Quote: IbeatyouracesThere are no exceptions to 16 vs 7,8,9,A unless they are deviations based on the true count.
perfecto - also, I advised her there is a miniscule edge to hitting a 10,2 versus 4 over standing
Quote: tringlomaneI would tell people to hit unless they are really advanced in basic strategy. Hit 16 vs 7+ is much easier to remember obviously.
Well she knows her basic strategy - she was looking for any advanced plays she could use aside from counting
