I'm just a recreational player- the "work" takes a small amount of time, and it's worth it.
Quote: MakingBookI started keeping my own blackjack survey last year. At the end of each session I take notes on the rules, pen, dealers, bet spread, and anything else worthwhile. When I get home (or to the room) I input the data into a google spreadsheet. I sort the data by casino and date. I can access the data on my phone via google drive. My spreadsheet contains 54 different casinos from 2012.

Can we turn this into a group effort? Where is the guy with the casino directory project?
It think the days of one source go to trustworthy information are over. Things change too fast. So what if things are not 100% accurate wiki style - it is better than nothing.
[And often - better than something. R.I.P. Encyclopedia Britannica]

Would you be open to giving/selling it to me?
Keeping the survey up to date is an enormous task. Weighing the cost to my time and the benefit, it isn't worth it. I have considered just taking the survey down.

Have youi thought of doing what vpfree2 does?
I'm sure there are bj players who can give you updates.
Okay, that was silly. Seriously though, CBJN is the best source for this stuff, and like most good things in life, it ain't free. I have found the info for my local casinos to be semi-accurate and sometimes very, very old. I'm guessing the Vegas info is more current, but as I don't live there and can't check the veracity of it, I don't know for sure. But it is definitely more up-to-date than the Wizard's survey.
Quote: FlynnAh, I see... I guess as long as I play off strip and avoid the 6-5 and other novelty games I should be fine..
What games/rules are you interested in?
(I put in a bit of data that I knew off the top of my head)
Quote: LlewHow about just a Google spreadsheet where invited contributors can make changes but anyone with the link can view? Something like: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtxW1ImXRyhbdDZzeUctT0Q4SkZVNUlyOG4tWGxQYkE&usp=sharing

I think it's a decent idea. One problem with Wong's CBJN newsletter is that the main audience and the main source of the information is advantage players, and advantage players are necessarily greedy with information. To that end, and considering the paltry compensation offered by Wong, a lot of the information falls out of date. Obviously really juicy opportunities (like hole-card flashers, +EV off-the-top promotions, etc.) aren't listed as a matter of course, but something like a new game goes in with better than average rules or pen, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get reported. This definitely happens around my local area.
But if you are aiming more at recreational gamblers, they don't care much about propagating information about the rules. It will definitely still be very much "best-effort" unless you offer compensation, of course.

True...but hopefully there are enough people willing to put in that effort simply to have an updated resource for free. I'm not an advantage player but would still like to avoid walking from casino to casino in the heat trying to find good rules.
