He has had multiple $20,000 profit weekends and a few too many $5,000 loss days. He is the most aggressive gambler I have ever seen and I pray to one day be able to bet the way he does however I HATE Blackjack so I would like to borrow his mentality and use it on a Craps table. Now I'll never bet the type of money he does but his BREAK THEM attitude has done him a lot more good than bad through the years.
We just got off the phone discussing one of his most amazing Blackjack sessions over the past weekend. He was down $9,000 and headed back home down and distraught, on his way home he found a $50 Free Play Coupon in his pocket, he headed back to the Casino withdrew $2,000 from the ATM, won the entire $9,000 that he was down plus won an additional $2,800.
A $50 Free Play Coupon resulting in a $11,800 swing....now that's a comeback!

Sounds like one of the bigger heaters ever. He may be the Martingale Jesus!!!

He SAYS he is up six figures?
Just last week, we had a guy go from $2,000 to $50,000...twice. And I'm sure people here have seen that beat by a longshot.

Lol.
I'm as skeptical as the rest here, but whatever. Good for him.
Quote: CrapsForeverOne of my buddies who I've known for over 20 years is a BIG TIME BLACKJACK player. I have seen him start with a $100 bet and keep doubling it into $3,200 or more bet before taking a single $ profit. He will take a $3,000 bankroll....initially play with $1,000.....run it up to $5,000 and lose it all back in minutes; this happens MULTIPLE times every single month over the years.

So basically he's doing the martingale strategy? winning most of the time and losing one time big and going up and down all the time?

No martingale, just playing superaggresively looking for consecutive hits with basic strategy. He loses a lot but his wins make up for it. It's scary watching him play due to the large swings but overall he does quite well. Having a GREAT paying job allows you to not sweat the swings and he's smart enough to not quit his job regardless of his winnings at the table.

People like your friend probably has selective memory. He likes to talk up his wins and is a bit shy about his losses. Withdrawing $2K for a $50 free play coupon is insane assuming standard ATM fees inside a casino (most casino charges like a 3% fee for ATM withdrawls).
I am more than happy to bet he has huge swings from being up to being decisively deep in the hole.
Now, I realize you stated that your friend was not an AP, but was using the martingale double up system. But frankly, doing this regularly and being up 6 figure just isn't possible. He is either not telling you about playing with an advantage or he is lying about his results.

Neither do we need to put up with your useless diatribes.
You are just another pot calling the kettle black.

Hey CF,
I hope you know I count you as a good friend on this board, and I don't think people are trying to be mean, that are just trying to get a true picture. When it comes to gambling wins and losses, we all know there are plenty of people with fuzzy math. I have a friend who always talks about his 'wins'. It took me a long time to realize if he goes to BJ and gets paid $500, that is a $500 'win'. He may have bought in for $400, and lost it all, but he 'won' $500.
I have one comment on the story. As I read it, your friend won an additional $2800. However, he was down $9,000 and hit the ATM for $2000 more. So, he actually won $800, since he was invested for $11,000 once he hit the ATM. I suspect this detail got confused in the retelling of the story.

RaleighCraps,
I definitely consider you a good friend on the board and am looking forward to playing Craps with you sometime this year. I use this forum as an outlet; I have NEVER made up a gambling story in my life. I did not make the original post to gloat about my friend's supposed Blackjack skills. I was just telling about one of his experiences and felt that I was attacked. I've played with the guy countless times...I sat next to him in Vegas in 2008 and saw him lose $5,000 of his money......win it all back to break even and lose the entire $5,000 in the span of one hour; I was sitting right next to him. I've been on a couple of gambing trips with him where he has won up to $20,000 PROFIT in a couple of days...he's a lunatic with money; he gambles just to gamble. I've personally seen him lose entire Blackjack shoes betting $100 per hand. He wins big and loses big; that's just him.
I just thought this last story was funny...that he lost $9,000 and on his way driving home...found a $50 free play coupon in his pocket and decided to go back and withdraw an additional $2,000 to play again; came home with a total of $13,800...so he won a total profit of $2,800 because he played with $11,000 of his own money. The irony in the story was the $50 Free play coupon was the catalyst leading to his comeback.
I was simply sharing a funny story....which I know is real based on his history....
