Hello all, question about bankroll

1.) Different forums/sites etc. recommend max bet be between 1-2% of your bankroll. My plan is 1% (Max bet of $50 for a BR of $5000). Was wondering what you all use, 1%, 1.5%, 2% or some other number for your max bet as % of BR.

2.) I haven't found good info on how much $$ one should plan for a particular/specific trip as a % of bankroll i.e. if I want to play 5-10 hrs over a weekend, do you bring 10% of bankroll, I really have no idea.

My games and spreads are (my unit is $5)
SD: 1-3 or 4
DD: 1-5
6D: 1-10

Thanks

Go to the bottom of this page and click "Wizard of Odds". Search bar is on the top right.

Search:
1. Kelly Criterion (You're using a spread so I assume you're counting/AP)
2. Bankroll
3. Anything else you can think of

I play craps and don't follow any form of bankroll management other than leaving when I think I should. This is just a start, I know a handful of APers lurk around so hopefully they can help you out.

I suggest 100 max bets for total bankroll and 30 max bets for a session. I'm sure the math folks can criticize this and provide you with pages of complicated formulas but this should cover it.

It has a lot to do with whether you have player advantage, that is when Kelly makes sense. Another thing that makes sense for AP is to bet the minimum when in doubt about your bankroll, and consult a Kelly strategy when you think you have built it up some.

Without player advantage, the opposite tactic aligned with the Kelly type thinking, is to come as close to betting it all on one bet as you can stand, instead of making a bunch of smaller bets.

Then there is the consideration for recreational betting, which throws that last out the window.

These two comments are at the heart of my own play. I may have a particular amount of cash that I walk into a casino with, but I have no idea what my "gambling bankroll" might be. It could well be far less than the cash in my pocket, or I might go to the ATM and pick up some more. I have additional funds in the bank, of course, some of which I will almost certainly gamble with in the future; I just don't know what portion of those funds I should view as a bankroll.

I would probably think about this topic more seriously if I really thought I was in the casino to try to earn a living. "Recreation" -- or call it "entertainment" -- is what it's all about for me. My bet size is usually small in order to prolong the entertainment. It is only somewhat influenced by the amount of cash in my pocket, and I won't know how much or whether it is influenced by the total funds available to me until after such day as I win the Powerball or run short.

I think this has been pointed out before.

They have probably the best BJ software program around.
And a free online BJ e-book.

Calculators here are free and they use the info from Blackjack Attack

Don Schlesinger's Blackjack Attack: Playing the Pros' Way Book vol3 looks to be a very good tool.

IMO, the two above is all a counter needs.
But most will find it too hard to understand or too much work to read.

The choice is really up to you.
Do you want to find out what is best for you by doing your own work or
just trusting the many "rules of thumbs" by others
