Wish me good variance!

Bally's has it - I will attempt to get a copy
I was at Bally's AC this past Friday, primarily to play poker.
Had I known, I would have looked and played....
Instead of notifying gaming, I informed my personal assistant at Shufflemaster to correct the situation in Blackhawk and elsewhere.
Just looking for follow-up.
out for a tall thin guy in a baseball cap who never
takes off his sunglasses. They said that describes
half the BJ players and they hung up on me.
Quote: aceofspadesI will be in AC this weekend - of course, based on advice from counsel (buzzpaff, mission146), I will refrain from saying where I will be playing BUT, I am going to try and go old school ( well, a few months ago at least ) in my reports (i.e. multiple and detailed reports throughout the day - including a tournament on Saturday)!!!
Wish me good variance!
Good cards to you! I'm going in a couple of weeks and I'm going to try to negotiate surrender. Care to pave the way for me?
Hoping to cash or !st place at any cost ??

Smaller prizes this time as it is no longer the "Inaugural" tourney
- will play for cash, doesn't have to be 1st prize

1BB - if you have the bankroll - they have surrender!!! But you need a HUGE bankroll and guaranteed minimum play (or so I've heard)
(played a $40 free bet on Roulette at Bally's - had to bet RED and it came in (and...for those who are interested in tipping, I gave the dealer $5 for the one spin))
None of this taking 8 naps and wandering around
for hours looking at your reflection in the shop
windows glass.. You're there to play!
Did you go to the Pro Bar at Resorts? Those ladies won't do more than talk about carpentry and cats with you.Quote: aceofspadesTHe rest of teh evening was spent int he nightclub flirting with pretty ladies.

Yeah - I went with your dad :)
repeat of Vegas.
Quote: EvenBobAre you actually going to play or is this a
repeat of Vegas.
Bob - the end result is what matters - not the length of times at the tables.
Or am I incorrect?
Quote: aceofspadesBob - the end result is what matters - not the length of times at the tables.

Incorrect. Because eventually you won't as far
ahead as you are now when you have a bunch
of losing sessions in a row. And you will have
them, its inevitable. So you'll need to play as
much as you can when you're there if you ever
hope to realize the 2% advantage counting
gives you. All you're doing now is experiencing
some positive variance. Its meaningless, it
never lasts.
Hopefully you're not spending the winnings but are
building a bigger BR.

So you are saying if I don't play more now, variance will kill me in the long run? But if I don't play more now, then I have a bigger bank roll next time - or - are you making a conclusion that it will always end up becoming negative so I should somehow "get it out of the way"?

Let me put it another way. If you had lost $1000 right away,
would you have stopped playing? Just accepted the loss, the
way you accept the wins? Because thats going to happen, you
will lose whole sessions and you'll also lose sessions in a
row. It has to happen, it happens to everybody. By stopping
when you're ahead all you're doing is postponing the inevitable,
that you'll be winning at a 2% advantage, not the the 15% or 20%
that variance is letting you win at now.

Well i played another 3 hours per your instructions and won another $25 - so much for variance!

Don't mock variance. It plays no vavorites..
Please do not force our ruthless AC agents to take immediate corrective steps !
Quote: EvenBobDon't mock variance. It plays no vavorites..
Bob - it seems that what you are saying is that you should never leave a casino winning - at least, that is how it comes across. If I am winning $1million then I should stay and lose it because variance is always going to get me in the end...?
Quote: buzzpaffNot yet, but tell the boys not to make any plans for this afternoon.
I did not play today as it was 'get away' day to return home - like I stated, I played for three hours last night and won another $25 on top of what I won in the first 10 minutes Friday night. But, according to Bob, you should never leave more than 2% of your bankroll ahead...
Quote: buzzpaffDoes this mean you did not check out SWITCH ? SIGH
Buzz - switch was over at Bally's and I did not see rules posted :(

You really don't know what you're doing, do you.
You don't have a clue.
Never mind.

Bob - I know exactly what I am doing! I think you saw that you argument was circular and therefore you blame me!
I will certainly put my total units won since I began playing 3 years up against any 'professional' player.

I reiterate, you are clueless.
Quote: EvenBobI reiterate, you are clueless.
I do not appreciate the insult.
You know I like you and think you are hilarious, but unless Ace is gambling with your money, perhaps you shouldn't worry about the way he goes about his business.
Quote: buzzpaffHey, Aces came into this forum seeking advice from an expert. Bob can only advise. It is up to Aces to follow through.
Telling him he is, "Clueless," does not qualify as constructive criticism, or anything with requisite enough specificity to be considered advice.
Quote: Mission146perhaps you shouldn't worry about the way he goes about his business.
What makes you think I'm worried. I realized by
the questions he was asking that he has no clue
as to how this works. So what.

I reiterate my challenge to honestly state your
number of units ahead you are over the past three years (when I started playing)
Isn't the goal of a professional to be positive at the end of each year?
If that is the case, and you are a professional, you should have
positive results each and every year since you seemingly know
exactly when to end each session...
so.......?
Whether or not I play blackjack the "right way" or, YOUR WAY,
the end result of cash in pocket is what we all seek.
Quote: buzzpaffInsults, justified or otherwise, are not meant to be appreciated.
Yep. Today, a doctor told me I need shoulder surgery.
I said I wanted a second opinion. He said "You're ugly too!"
