We were still down so I said we might as well combine our money and try to get it back. We went to the craps table and made a few points but ended up losing all but 10. With only 10 left I wanted to go see how long we could make it work at the blackjack table but my friend wanted to pick a number on roulette. I tried explaining to him how terrible the odds are but he eventually convinced me to go for it. I asked him what number he wanted and he said lucky 13. I put 10 on 13 and on our very first spin we of course got 13. The other players at the table we cursing at us and the dealer said he has never seen anyone pick the number on their first try. I asked my friend if we should press it and he said hell no but we stayed and watched to see what the next number it was going to be. Well naturally it was 13 again but couldn't get to upset with our 350 dollar winnings even though it could have been over $10,000. Actually it makes me sick to my stomach but that's why its gambling.
Anyway, I'm playing and this guy sits next to me, buys in with a $100 chip, and starts the new shoe with $20 as his BJ bet and two $10 side bets. He is dealt the Q-J of hearts. Dealer's up card is the K of hearts. Bam, a straight flush, which pays 25-1, so he wins $250. The dealer's down card is the 10 of hearts, and another straight flush, and another $250. So he wins $500 on the side bets in one hand and pushes his BJ bet to boot--on the first hand out of the shoe! It's moments like these that I wish I played the side bets! But over the next 20 minutes I saw him lose $100 of his winnings through his BJ play and losing side bets. He left at this point.
We headed for the door and before we left I told her we needed to play a slot machine. I played favorite at the time which was a seel game. Can't not remember the name and have not seen it in a long time. I ended up winning another $600.
It was a great night.
I was once playing a poker tournament online (just a small one) and was down to my last big blind. Pressed it and doubled up a few times. Got back into the game. Ended up winning the tournament.
Hehe... Maybe if you dredged the Red River under the I-20...Quote: Actuarial...We tried finding that old asian dealer the next day but unfortunately could not find him.
Quote: ActuarialMy friend and I were playing at one of those tables in Bossier City a few years ago where you have to shoot the gap in order to get paid (something like dealer card must be between your two cards). After the first dealer change we got this very old asian man that didn't seem to understand the bet. Every time three cards came out that were remotely close to each other, my friend got paid on his side bet. 45-6 got paid, 46-5 got paid, 9T-Q got paid... and it got to the point where almost every other hand was a winner, and a lot of those were big winners. After several hundred dollars in improperly paid-out bets, our old dealer came back and commented on how much money my friend had won in such a short time! We tried finding that old asian dealer the next day but unfortunately could not find him.
He most likely was fired for being an "easy" dealer(a dealer who clearly should not have gotten the job since he had no idea how to deal correctly, which was evidenced by how much money gamblers won under his shift) ;)
Didn't you guys pump up your bets? At least to a level not to alert the PB.Quote: ActuarialMy friend and I were playing at one of those tables in Bossier City a few years ago where you have to shoot the gap in order to get paid (something like dealer card must be between your two cards). Quote: theoriemeisterbut I do get envious when I see someone win big. (Of course, I try to remember all the times they didn't win and wonder if they're really up after losing, say, 100 side bets.
I never really understood why people get SO mad when YOU get the side bets, have no money on it, but make it very clear that you don't play them.
I get, that they are frustrated over losing their money on those bets. But why should it affect them what I choose to do with MY money? It isn't like I'm going be so overjoyed that I will give them money from the winnings, so they have no stake in it.
One time, a dealer was getting mad at me because I hit 4 Match the dealer bets in a row(all unsuited), to the point he stopped dealing until I placed a bet. I of course did NOT and told him to "Stop worrying about sucker bets that will never give me any satisfaction and will never end up in your toke box." Maybe I was a little bit too blunt, but I feel it is absurd for someone in his position to tell me what to do with my money.
