Day 1 of last weekís trip didnít start off perfectly. Apparently, Mrs. Q and I didnít listen carefully enough to the Baggage Claim instructions (and/or they werenít announced quite clearly enough by the airline !), so we took the tram train to Terminal 1 while our suitcase was working its way to Terminal 3. We had taken a couple of minutes to use my laptop computer to check rental car prices after the flight arrived, (we didnít see any rates we liked), so I think we didnít notice the sign detailing the baggage claim areas for each airline in our excitement to get the vacation back on track and get to the Strip.

So no big deal, we took the bus over, grabbed our suitcase, and caught a taxi. My attitude in a situation like this is ďWell, if thatís the worst thing that happens to us this trip, it will have been a pretty good tripĒ.

Unfortunately, my gambling kindof followed suit the rest of the day, and I was down close to a couple hundred, which wonít break me, but nonetheless isnít where I had hoped to be after the first day.

Despite the time change and getting to bed late after the 9:00 Beatles Love show, we were up pretty early on Day 2. Thatís really unusual for Mrs. Q, who likes to sleep-in and relax on Vacation, while I tend to want to get going and see what the day has in store.

We decided a little walk would be a good idea, so we wandered from mid-Strip over to Ellis Island. After all my trips to LV, I didnít realize they had a really nice $ 5.99 Steak and Eggs and Potatoes and Toast breakfast special. In fact, I asked the waiter what the guys at the next table were having, since it looked so good. The steak was a decent cut, so I suspect weíll do that more often.

Royal #1:

After breakfast, we took the 202 Bus over to the PALMS. I have always liked the atmosphere there, the drink service is usually pretty good, and I like trying to hit quad deuces on their Deuces Wild Full Pay machines. I put in a $ 100 bill and after about only 10 minutes, I discarded a pair and held 3 to a Royal in spades, the Ace, 10, & Jack. Well sure enough up pops the Queen and King !

I didnít want to call very much attention to that, it just doesnít seem to be a good idea to publicize a decent jackpot if you donít have to. So I hit the button to stop the long chime counting up to $ 1000, and put the ticket for $ 1095 into my wallet, also figuring that thereís no good reason to have that much on the screen for anyone to see walking by.

A few minutes later Mrs. Q walks up to show me her ticket because she is happy about being up more than a hundred from the Slots. So I also showed her my ticket !

Since I was up, I played the slots with her for a while, ended up ahead, we each got enough points for lunch, and also a $ 5 gift card for the Einstein Brothers bagel place (we have one near our home). Gotta love promotions at PALMS. And then as a bonus, I played a little Blackjack, lost when I used my $ 10 match-play coupon, but cashed out there after a couple shoes another hundred up.

Royal #2:

We headed back to the strip for the rest of the afternoon, but we went back to the PALMS via the shuttlebus to Rio since we had tickets for the late Penn and Teller show. I sit back down at the same DW machine, this time Mrs. Q sits down to play there as well.

So about 10 minutes later, I say ďHey, this is the same kind of hand I had this morning, 3 to a Royal with a pairĒ. This time I keep the 10, Ace, and King of hearts. And sure enough, BAM, Royal Flush #2. We can both hardly believe it, same day, same casino, same machine. I put the ticket into my wallet and played a little more until itís time to walk back over to Rio for the show.

Iíve got pictures of both Royals, but Iíll have to read some of the threads on how to post pictures.

Before this trip, my last Royal was in the summer of 2012. So apparently I got 2+ yearís worth of Royals in a single day. I also played some more DW at Palms on Day #3, up and down and then about back to even, but no more Royals and no quad Deuces for the entire trip. In the afternoon, I took the 202 bus the other direction on Flamingo and deposited my Royal Flush money at a branch of my regular bank.

Here's hoping I can make a post about Royal #3 in 2015 !

Congrats that's awesome. So in about 20-30 minutes of play you hit 2 royals? ON SINGLE LINE???? Whew!

I'm excited when I hit 2-3 royals in 3 hours playing 10-line (that's still way ahead of expectation). But it feels way better getting them on single line.

My first big hand/payout was at The Palms, as well. I've always liked that place, what a beautiful smell it has. :)

I'm trying to remember how much I played in the morning session. I think I came back and played some more DW after my break for the slots. So it was more than just 20-30 minutes. Anyway, a banner day for sure. Like I said, that was 2+ YEARS worth of Single Line Royals for me in one day.
