Quote: PayTheLineI didnt want to tip them at the table as i wanted to tip them on a more personal level. I also did it in this way because 25 years ago a craps player did this for me.
That's cool!
You probably handled it well and far more tactfully than one crew I had just stiffed after a lengthy roll in which I finally sevened out my lousy little five dollar bet. But hearing Dealer say to Box 'He could have really hurt us if he had known what he was doing' was a wake up call.
Quote: FleaStiffIts hard to do things like that when the table is packed and its hard to "show up the guy" that he doesn't know how to play craps in front of his girlfriend.

I have learned unsolicited craps advice is about the same as unsolicited golf advice. Last time I played I had a smile on my face as a loudmouth lout had $50 pass and no free-odds at a $5 table. I'll explain anything I know to anyone who asks, but it ends there. And I tip the crew, not players. The crew does all the work, you don't tip the person at the next table at a restaurant who you asked what that great-looking meal was, do you?

I'm going to start using that! That's great!

I have on about 3 occasions made a 3way hard way bet. Me, shooter, and crew if the hards are hitting, 5-1-1. always interesting to watch a shooter get money they didnt bet.
I have been give a few bets this way, and when won, used a few of the proceeds to tip the crew. I have also received a few tips after an absolute monster roll. The roll happening about once every 3 months, the tip once a year.
On a different note i have have given up my "spot" on the rail to a shooter I know is fairly skilled. We both were making high tail for the same table, arriving about the same time to SR1. He asked if he could have the spot. I looked at him and recognized him from previous trips. He has had several phenomenal rolls, and is normally consistent at hitting inside numbers. I have made good money with him in the past. I said sure you can have it, and took a spot 2 from base.
With in a few minutes the current shooter had 7ed out, and the dice passed to the other guy. 5 passes, 30 minutes and 1100$ later I was out. As was he. On our way to the cage he said thanks, I said... hell thank you ! Great roll my friend, Ive seen you shoot before and had good luck. Figured you would do more than me from there, so it was all yours.
Craps, sometimes it is a team sport.
Quote: Beethoven9thHow do you know that he didn't tip the crew as well?
Looks like that was answered a few posts above. I was simply going to say he didn't say he did and I didn't say he didn't.
I think that is one of the nicest things I have heard at the casino

I have done that too. 1-1-1 for my cheap ass. I dont think it ever hit, but it adds to the camaraderie and excitement at the table. I dont know why, but 99% dealers always want the action.
I have never tipped a shooter or have been tipped, although in my limited play the best I have seen is a "good" roll, never anything great or verging on epic.
I've seen people make $1 bets for the shooter, that's a nice thing to do but you'll never see me doing it. I've grown into just tipping dealers directly, it annoys me when I put tip money down and then lose.
He told me to put it on the field and keep it if it hit as a reward for my honesty.
Then he proceeded to roll a 2 for a triple field payout...
I walked up to a table and started betting dark side; the table was ice cold and I was winning while everyone else was losing. One guy was losing about 10x what I was winning, I remember at one point he had $600 each on the 6 and the 8 place bets. Anyway I get the dice and as is my wont, shoot from the don't saying I won't! The guy is super pissed about the "negative energy" I'm bringing to the table and during my roll (after I've established a point but before I've hit it/seven'd out) decides he wants to really inspire me to hit the point instead of sevening out, as if I'm more than just a human RNG. He puts a black chip on the pass line in front of me, essentially hoping I'll "try" to hit my point instead of sevening out (I'm pretty sure I had a $25 DP bet plus 2 or 3 $25 DC bets, all backed up with full odds).
Long story short, I seven'd out, lost my "tip", the guy lost all his money, and I'm happy he didn't try to beat me up in the elevator.
Quote: sodawateryou should have immediately hedged it such that you were guaranteed to win some amount off sevening out. haha.
I mean technically I was guaranteed a win no matter what. Seven out = win all of my bets. Hit the point = win his bet for me.
