I'm at borgata later that night doing 6 deck s17 game. Count was alright and I was doing two hands. Pit boss whispers to the dealer "he can't play two hands and it's $100 dollar max". I'm appalled and at that point the count is solid so I do the $100 until the shoe ends. I then leave.
A bit before my bus leaves I decide to play in the blackjack section by the escalators at Revel again. 6 deck s17 25 dollar min. Dealer gives about 1.25 decks penetration so it's decent. I win some. Pit boss gets a phone call. Next shoe they cut the shoe in half. I do like two hands and then make up an excuse to leave for a bit. Next shoe it's even worse(40% penetration).
I walk over to Taj and proceed to win $1225. That's awesome but I think I'm done. The only thing I might do is the Resorts 10 dollar s17 game. I don't have heat there yet. Very annoying though.
Quote: Lemieux66On my weekly AC trip, I decided to play some blackjack at revel. Dealer was giving about 1.5 deck cut and it was 10 min bet so I jumped in there. The count never really got great and my biggest bet at the time was $60(and I was losing) and one of the pit bosses comes up to me and whispers "Sorry sir we don't have the game you want to play". I feigned ignorance and he didn't try to kick me out, but writing was on the wall so I left.
In the State of New Jersey, legally, he cannot kick you out for counting blackjack. All he can do is arbitrarily order a new shuffle or flat bet you.

What does that even mean? Did he take some sort of action, like shuffle on you?

I didn't know. Later on I realized I should have said "well you shouldn't have gotten rid of the poker room then".

Were you giving him hungry eyes?

Which is apparently what most of the other casinos did, and is pretty much just as effective as kicking you out. Sorry Lemieux.
It was when I finally went green, spreading $25-$200, and later $25-$300, that things began to change and the kitchen grew a little warmer.
Now my AC time (2004-2009) was pre-Revel (well it was sitting there rotting away, but it didn't look like it would ever open), but the other non-related properties like Borgata, Taj, Resorts, Tropicana did not communicate at all. Now my later years there, was sort of that in-between time, when Griffin was out or going out and pre-OSN, or at least they didn't have a foothold in AC, so maybe things are different today.

What were you spreading before this? I am a little surprised Borgata was sweating red chip action in its main BJ pit on a very busy Saturday night. You must really give off a counter-ish vibe.
By the way, Mission is correct. In AC they cannot ask you to leave for counting cards, and they can't even ask you to stop playing. If they do things like cut off half the shoe, you should stick to playing new games where they cut off 1.5 or fewer decks. If the count drops too low just wong out and find a new table.
Maybe find a green chip table where there are a few other decent-sized bettors who would object to see the dealer cutting off half the shoe every shuffle. That way you can blend in a little. Note it will be almost impossible to find this kind of heavy green chip action at Revel.

This makes no sense at all. Were you playing rated in all three examples?
In the first Revel scenario you were playing red chips with a top bet of $60. You were playing 8 deck, H17 and you were not winning. You did not get heat for doing this at a lousy game like that. Was something else going on?
Did you present a player's card at the Borg? If you don't, they will do exactly what you describe happened to you. It's their policy.
Back to Revel. Why? Why as in you thought you got heat and marched right back there anyway? Pit bosses are on the phone a lot. It's not always about you. Were there other players at the table? Why did you play the poor game to begin with? I have very seldom seen the penetration you described, especially in the six deck game. Was that dealer dependent or has there been a change?

Wait now. What are you saying, 1BB? Borgs policy is if you play unrated there is a $100 table max? Yikes! Boy, I don't miss AC....lol I will always have a soft spot for AC, because my career started there and I built my BR to the point that I could (even had) to get out of there.....but I sure don't miss the place.

Yes sir. The signs on the tables say without a players' card you can only play one hand at 10 times the table minimum.
I go to AC because my wife and I have friends and relatives in South Jersey and we just like it. My wife's mostly penny slot play keeps us in plenty of free rooms etc.
I, too, have a soft spot for AC. I was in line at Resorts the day they first opened the doors. I won't play blackjack in AC unless I find something exploitable which I sometimes do. Why should I play there when I live in Connecticut? I guess I got spoiled years ago by AC's 4 deck, early surrender games dealt all the way down.

Amazing! I hadn't heard that. I hope it's not a trend that catches on.
It's really is amazing how things have changed. Before my playing days, but not all that long ago, people used to show up at casinos with suitcases of money and the casino didn't care who they were. If the player called himself 'mickey mouse' the casino would comp a room and comp meals to 'mickey mouse'. They respected the players privacy.
Even on the sucker games they won't let you play 2 hands, unless you have a players card.Quote: kewljAmazing! I hadn't heard that. I hope it's not a trend that catches on.

At least at GN where I noticed this. I was not sure why they added this rule, I thought they were just being idiots, but it makes sense it may be a way to spot and keep track of advantage players.
This does not seem like a smart thing to do, if that's the reason.(some consultant genius probably came up with this one) I think it has to be costing them more then its saving.
Some drunk who was playing some non blackjack game ( I cant remember what one. I remember you could make late bets after knowing you had a winning hand for the dealer) The drunk guy wanted to play 2 hands, he was betting a good amount and he played horrible. They said he could play 2 hands unless he had a card. He was to dunk to bother and of course he was offended at the situation. He got pissed and left soon after.

It was a different section of revel at a different time with different floor managers. I wasn't sure they red flagged me at the time but I wanted to check.
Quote: Lemieux66You know, I'm not all that upset by any of this. I make more money in poker anyway. I just wanted to give Revel a little action because they were giving me rooms, resort dollars, and free gift Thursday. But if they are going be like this I just have to say goodbye.
If you're counting cards you aren't really their target customer. Saying goodbye is pretty much their goal.

You'll know soon enough. Two very good friends of mine had their comps zeroed out at Revel recently and they are not counters, just lucky basic strategy players. They never heard a peep from the pit. Have you checked your comps lately?

Yeah I have like 75 cents now. I still have one more gift and a comp room coming this Thursday but I think that's it from them.

I still don't see any red flags. Are you showing a lifetime win? Do you rat hole?

That first floor guy simply didn't like that I raised my bet some when the count improved. It's insane.

And again I say....and they wonder why they are broke and cant get players. I believe Ace always used the Speed Count there and spread his bets. Has he ever had any heat?
Quote: BozAnd again I say....and they wonder why they are broke and cant get players. I believe Ace always used the Speed Count there and spread his bets. Has he ever had any heat?
Speed Count, in shoe games especially, should bring no heat whatsoever. Ace spreads 1-4 black, not enough for a skills check. He hasn't gotten heat thus far but he says that he is consistently ahead. The casino has his records so the heat could be coming if they take a look at lifetime wins.
Secondly: Although Revel does sweat the money, I do not think they are sweating a $60 max bet.
Quote: aceofspadesFirstly: Many player's comps were zeroed out recently in an effort by Revel to apparently save money…if this happened to you, all you have to do is contact your host or go to the Box Office or Card Desk and ask for a Supervisor and they will likely give you your comp points back (I have seen plenty of people do this)…
Secondly: Although Revel does sweat the money, I do not think they are sweating a $60 max bet.
Well, all he saw was $60. He probably knew it would increase if the count improved. He would be right. I was hoping my Super Mario Brothers 3 shirt would deflect heat lol

I've seen people bet $5k/hand for hours — the table max at a $10min. table does not even approach $5k

I believe table max I've seen for a 10 min is 500 and sometimes 1k.
