I nuked a sweet potato for eight minutes so as to stave off hunger and perhaps lessen some of the delirium. I had no idea if MoW would arrive today or not. Turns out they just dropped off this Penne Pasta with peas and a cookie, so I had a bonus.

Will be pills soon and then perhaps a lunch of more sweet potato. Life is good when the food is free and delivered.

White castle has frozen burgers. They aren't bad, all things considered.

Yes, but as of two weeks ago White Castle openned its fourth area location on Paradise and Harmon.

Is that the old Checkers location? It seems like an ideal location for late night munchies, across from the Hard Rock and down the street from the Fruit Loop yet both Checkers and Papaya King failed.

I like White Castle, too, though they're not my favorite fast food place. I get the frozen ones at the grocery store every once in a while. I usually hit up the one on the Strip at least once when I'm in Vegas. Last time I was there they had Impossible Sliders, but i didn't try one. I tried an Impossible Whopper at BK not too long ago and I thought it was pretty good.

Is we a typo for WC or are you involved in it?
I loved Checkers when I lived in Florida, and thought it didn't travel well when they moved into the NYC/ Long Island area. The one on Boulder Highway is disgusting and the one on Harmon was incredibly inconsistent plus everything was $1 more than at other locations.
I've had two friends killed in fast food restaurants late night so I avoid them, using the drive thru only. I imagine the new WC will have a drive thru.

Yeah I was going to comment when you mentioned earlier about Paradise/Harmon sounding like a great location for late night munchies that area sounds like a great location to be the victim of a violent crime or robbery late night.

P. S. Bob, I did notice a lot of people hawking lugs. Huge wind up too. Walking around every so often you hear a hhhhhhhhccccccwwwww pew!

I was reading in one of the Master
and Commander books, set in the
period of 1800, how much the
English hated taking on Chinese
sailors because they spit everywhere.
Below decks in quarters, but especially
on deck. The deck of an English ship
was kept in pristine condition and
spitting was a big no-no..

It's a really disgusting habit and does
a lot for the spreading of infectious
diseases.

There are no WC's here but I always
heard about them. So when I finally
saw one years ago I tried a slider.
It was so unbelievably awful I
quit after 3 bites. It was all bun
with a little burger and tasted
like wet cardboard.

I've since read it's a regional
thing, people were forced to eat
them as kids and think it's real
food.

I think Chipotle could due with a little more antibiotics in their beef.

I still maintain that the Mcdonalds QP is the best fast food burger outside of Five Guys/In n Out.

No, mostly coyote, diamondbacks, deer, jackrabbits and javelinas. Maybe an occasional bear or two, but sightings are pretty infrequent. A cougar was supposedly struck by a car last month but whatever it was dragged itself off into the Bush. Watching the game cameras set up on the nature trails is fascinating.
It's 140 acres of privately owned land surrounded by thousands of acres of BLM land.
No squirrels out here. Far too many carnivores. Snow in the Mule Mountains will occasionally bring the antelope down, but they prefer higher elevations.
Even for ducks, this is flyover country.

In 1965 I got my driver's license. There was
one KFC in the area about 15 miles from my
house. I had never had it before, a 20 piece
bucket of chicken was $3.99 and I got one.
In the parking lot I ate 15 or 16 pieces of
the chicken. On the way home I had to stop
and upchuck twice. If I've had KFC since then
I don't remember it. Just the thought of it
makes me queasy.

I had a minimalistic traditional Christmas meal. The wife made a 25lb turkey, sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed corn, apple pie, and a pecan pie. That is a lot of food for just the two of us.

I have a feeling in the next couple of days the dogs will be getting a few pounds of turkey.

I like rare steak but I’m not a fan of undercooked ground beef.

It has nothing to do with food safety, it’s a texture thing. Anything under medium is mushy and gross.

There’s a reason no one orders meatloaf medium-rare.

There’s no reason to order meatloaf period.

I had the Meals On Wheels entrée supplemented by a generous portion of White Rice from the pot load that I had made last night and inadvertently left on the stove top instead of refrigerating it.

YES! I know! The Quacks forbid me white rice and most definitely forbid me to enhance its flavor with butter, much less a half-stick's worth! I don't know what they would say about being left at about 70 degrees F. overnight, but "beggars can't be choosers".

Not having had a traditional Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day, today I had an obscenely large pub carvery meal.

Starter: Pork with apple and thyme pate, Onion chutney and toasted ciabatta.

Main: Roast lamb, Yorkshire pudding, Roast potatoes, Mashed potatoes, Gratin Dauphinois potatoes, Parsnips, Leeks in cheese sauce, Stuffing. gravy. No sprouts or carrots!

Dessert: Christmas pudding and brandy sauce.

Washed down with a pint of Bitter.

I seriously overfilled my plate and struggled to finish it. Had to have a good nap when I got home.
Not expecting to need to eat tomorrow. Might fast on Saturday too. Need to do penance for my gluttony.*

Good luck on your alcohol restriction. I only drink when I go to Vegas for some reason. No I don't live near Vegas. When I was young I drank way to much but now I hardly touch it. Two beers and I am bloated.

Don't bother. What I've done for
years is found the amount I want
to drink every day, in moderation,
and stick to it like a religion. I measure
every ounce exactly and never ever
go over it. That's not an option.
Works great.

Thanks EB for the non-support support :o)
I don't aspire to quit forever, and when the three months are up, I hope to follow something like your plan.
But I feel the need to 'kick-start' my 'diet.' A bit like my 'Ration challenge' earlier in the year, where I lost 11 pounds in a week and have kept 6 of those pounds off ever since.

Anybody that needs to quit for
any length of time has an alcohol
problem. I took steps before I
got to that point. I only drink
in the last 2 hours I'm awake,
and it's always the same exact
amount to the measured ounce.
It's rum now, was vodka for years
before that.

I have a shelf like that in the
pantry. I bought 150 cans
of Progresso soup in 2016
and then drastically changed
my eating habits. I have 100
cans of soup that aren't on
my diet. But they would be if
I got desperate enough.

They're expired by now, but
that means nothing. My
90 year old mother in law
would go to the basement
in 2010 and get a can of
cream of chicken that expired
in the 80's and it was fine.

25 years ago they found
canned goods on a sunken
ship from the 1860's in one
of the Great Lakes. They
tested it and it was fine.
