Sorry to hear about the toe, Babs. Was it one of those raised doorways on the ship? I understand why they are raised, but I despise them nonetheless. They trip me up all the time.Quote: beachbumbabsI broke a toe on the boat tonight. It looks terrible; all bruised and bloody. However, I won, so it wasn't all bad, but I don't think the winnings paid for the damage. The seas made for a rough cruise, but it was a lovely, breezy night. <sniff> waahhh...
Not to get too personal, but shouldn't the cruise operator bear the responsibility for your medical expenses? I am the last one to advocate litigation -- I despise PI lawyers & their inane commercials, but I would think it reasonable that the cruise company would cover your co-pays. Did they at least comp you a few pina coladas to ease the pain?
Hope you get well soon!
Also is it wOrth the drive to key largo for a few hours? Anything worth seeing there?
Quote: GWAECan any of our miamiish friends suggest a decent cheap area to stay next Monday night. We are going to be in miami/everglades on monday and flying out of fort lauderdale on tuesday at 3pm. I don't mind staying away from the airport since we have all morning to get there. I am looking for a comfort Inn type place and not a motel. Would like to spend under $60.

This is high season in South Florida. You will be unlikely to find anything less than $100/night you'd want to take your family to. More like $120-130. Just how it is.
That said, hotels.com has their deal of the day at Ocean Mile Hotel, Fort Lauderdale
4101 North Ocean Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33308
Phone:(954) 565-1691
88 for that night, reg. 164, quoted for a family of 4. An excellent neighborhood on the beach. Older 3 story hotel with decent ratings. I suggest you call them immediately and ask for that price.
Hotel pricing equal to Miami/Ft. L.
Of course for the adventuresome type, the cheapest spot in Lauderdale is one block removed from Nautical Row's 17th main drag. Place offers free bicycles to ride around the bar area and a group Stew Posse each evening. Its three houses of private rooms, bunk rooms, shared pools, shared kitchens .... oh, yeah....one point: Two thirds of it is a Nudist Colony. After they joined AirBnB their third house became Clothed.
You can get a refresher course on Scuba Diving from the near eighty year old owner and his wife, each artists and former yacht officers. Also when they say FRESH lobster, they mean it. They go out each morning to catch it themselves. You used to have to bookthru a crew leasing company but now you can book online and see photos (of the ROOMS). International customers about forty percent USA.
Trader Jim's nudist colonyand air bnb. Free Pool.

Thank you. I will look into that this morning. I can't get over how many hotels in florida have below 3/10 ratings. I have never paid attention to a map of Florida but I also never realized that there seems to only be a small liveable space on the east coast. Never realized the everglades took up as much land as they do.
There is a chance that our trip could get cancelled. I have a sinus infection but should be fine. However our 3 year old woke up this morning with a new possivle sinus infection. Not sure how he will be in 3 days.
Couldn't help myself.....
I just booked my hotel. I tried out the name your own price on priceline. I bid 99 for 3.5 star and ended up getting Sheraton ft lauderdale. No free breakfast but I am ok with it.

As soon as they are on antibiotics it is not contagious. This is the 3rd time he has had it in 2 years.

But that's where I hide.
On a side note. I took a heavy dose of nyquil last night to beat this cold. Took it around 9pm, asleep by 930. My dog gets me up every single night between 2 and 3am. Well I must have been knocked out because I didn't hear him. The mfer peed on my leg and in bed. Luckily we have a heavy grade mattress pad on but that was a great way to wake up at 4am.

As much as I was knocked out I can't be sure if anything.
I know there are a few business owners on here so I wanted to see if anyone knows this tax related question.
I was going to pay an employee for expenses such as mileage and dinners for clients. He is concerned that it is going to effect his agi. Payed expenses don't get reported on his taxes, right?
Quote: beachbumbabsDepending on how hard it is to generate good counterfeit, it makes more sense to me to pass 20's. 50's and 100's get a lot more scrutiny, and a lot of smaller stores won't even accept them.
Since this post back on December 18th, we have received at least 6 counterfeit bills. $50s and $100s must get a manager approval. The store manager (aka the Big Boss), approved a counterfeit $100 with his boss right next to him. Some one tried paying with a fake $20 last night.

Tried searching online, couldn't find nothin' about when it was filmed/released. This is 6am-7am on whatever "WGNAH" channel is in LV. Any help?
I don't know if this is the episode or not, but maybe you can find more info here if it is not:
"The lawyer of a 14-year-old boy claims he is not responsible for the beating death of his friend because he has an extra Y chromosome and is genetically predisposed to criminal behavior."

Yes, that's the episode. Wow, 1993? Few minutes in (I started halfway through or so), I felt like it was a law & order knock off. Then realized one of the detectives looks very much like one on Law & Order...then it hit me, this episode old as sh**!!

SWIM (Someone who isn't me) got paid with a fake $50, not once, but TWICE. Needless to say they were pissed. Once was while delivering pizza, and another was when they sold a video game on craigslist.
SWIM then tried to use it, worked once at a fast food place, and denied at another.

Either or, but likely your flag put it over the top. I've been the final flagger a time or two myself.

I didn't think flagging actually worked. Then I guess it is shame on us for allowing some of the BS threads to exist.

Well, I only flag when I see ad-like spam nothing else. Much as I think some other threads are less than productive, I don't bother anything else.

Really? As far as processing goes, acquiring skein/roe is pretty mild. One slit and the sheets are right there. And there is no smell whatsoever, aside from general fish smell.
Perhaps you found the key to your weight problem. You're close enough I could show you, intimately, how to make a hamburger starting on the hoof. One whiff of the cavity of the inside of bovidae or cervadae will change your life.

So you're giving up on hen eggs as well? It's the same pure protein except the chicken s#!^s it first.
I do empathize. Fish are disgusting, from cleaning, scaling, deboning, harvesting eggs, whatever. But delicious.

The Fed hangs his elk in a "warm" garage for almost a month, warm enough to rot. It breaks down in the rot, kills the game flavor and makes it tender as a roast. You lose a bit because you have to excise all the bleh that has turned, but the remaining bits? Tongue'll bash your brains out trying to get at it.
Hunting small game has been in my conscience enough recently that I might have another go. I have a hankering to make a new hat and cook some new dishes. I'll be in touch =)

Coonskin cap? Might have to change your avatar to Dan'l.
At first I thought it was a hard drive failure. I went in the bios to see if the hard drive was listed. It was there so I restore defaults, saved and exited. When it restarted the computer started fine with the exception of windows yelling at me because of abnormal shut down and wanted to scan hard drive. I aborted that option and windows started just fine and the computer works normal.
I turned the computer off and came back later. The same thing happened. The only way I could get into windows was by restoring defaults and then rebooting.
I have been working on computers my entire life and have never (as I can recall) had this issue. Any ideas what it could be? Should I try flashing bios, could it be a cable issue, motherboard issue? I wouldn't be so confused if the computer didn't work fine once it was started. Thoughts?

the best beef gets hung too.
sure, let us know how the small game hunting goes. A guy finds the durn critters don't actually want to wind up in your game bag - but I know you already knew that.
Quote: GWAEHopefully someone on here can help me with a computer problem. My dad called and asked for help. Whenever I turn on his computer or even restart it it gives me an error saying hardware failure with a bunch of xxxxoo11 and other letters. It wants to run a scan and then it freezes. This happens right after the bios screen and before windows starts to load. I know the exact wording would be more helpful but I am not near the computer right now.

Too hard to say without more info. I definitely would NOT recommend flashing the BIOS without a specific reason to do so.

That was my initial thought. Maybe I will try to get him to send me pictures of the errors.
In case you hadn't noticed, there is a vast right wing capitalist conspiracy at work here. Do the two step to save all your old stuff in the cloudy sky, then just buy a new computer. So, this may have zero to do with the problem. But. In the last 2 years I've had 3 computers fail (one my mom's) because the effective life of the lithium ion battery was over. Even though the computer was plugged in the whole time, once the battery dies the computer stops working. While the power is less than the computer needs to boot, though still flowing, for the time before complete failure, it causes weird errors (sort of like anoxia makes your brain goofy before it kills you). In one case, I replaced the battery (ordered it online) and the computer was like new again, the other 2 I replaced with new computers, each laptop for much less than $300 for more RAM, a touchscreen, DVD burner, etc. Insane pricing compared to 10 years ago. You might go shopping; laptops are ridiculously cheap right now because tablets and 2in1's are all the rage.
Quote: GWAEThe battery is something I had not thought about. When I owned my computer shop 15 years ago batteries usually outlasted the computer. I just did a Google search about batteries and newer computers and there seems to be issues quite often with them.
Yes, the battery is a possibility. A contra-indication to that is that it is keeping the hard drive info. If the bios settings were being wiped/invalid because of a bad battery, I would have expected that you would need to re-detect the hard drive, too. The bios default might be to try to auto-detect all of the hard drives, though, so it still could be a bad battery.
Quote:Henry Rosario Martinez, a 31-year-old avid gambler, died earlier this month from booze and an overdose of prescription pills in his hometown of Barceloneta, Puerto Rico.
Before Martinez was buried, the man’s dad had undertakers embalm his son, dress him in sunglasses and casual clothes and prop him up at a poker table so loved ones could see him one more time, doing what he enjoyed, CEN reported.
A full house of friends gathered around Martinez’s corpse, anted up the memories and snapped pictures of him at the poker table, with a full stack of chips in front of him.

Bad lip reading of 2016 nfl games. Pretty funny. Looks like they're actually saying it.
Also what version of Windows? One possibility is the onset of widely reported problems with updating to Windows 10, either manually or automatically. The dilemma calls for saving data to another disk or thumb drive and then seeing what can be done about restoring a prior setup.Quote: GWAEWhenever I turn on his computer or even restart it it gives me an error saying hardware failure with a bunch of xxxxoo11 and other letters.
