Sort of. In my defense, I don't watch the show and I have hardly played the slot machine. Granted, I knew they both had the same name, but wasn't sure if they were related or not. Now thinking about it, I guess the "WHEEL. OF. FORTUNE!!" that goes off for the bonus spin is also done on the TV show. I think? I dunno.
But if you think about it....there really isn't much, if anything at all, that relates the show with the slot machine.
Or am I totally lost -- and they actually aren't related?
In a crowded elevator, I'm stuck in the back corner. As elevator goes up floors, people start getting off, and the elevator gets uncrowded. Normal people SHOULD spread out more, instead of still standing where they are smashed up against other people. People in this elevator? Nope! They just stand all smushed up next to me and others, only taking up half the elevator space. Wtf?
When driving on long stretches of road, like 2-lane roads (i.e.: between SoCal & LV)......if you see a speed trap -- warn the drivers that are going into that area. If I'm heading north and they're heading south, they should be warning the people heading north. And us people heading north should warn the people heading south after we've spotted a speed trap / police with radar gun. A simple double on-off of headlights is a good warning (not high beams, just turn lights off & on 2 or 3 times in succession). Recently, I've seen VERY FEW people doing this. What gives?
Having some amount of money (chips on table, credits in machine, or cashing out at cage) and someone saying, "Oh wow, congratulations! Nice win!" Unless you know how much I've bought in for....you don't know how much I've won or lost. Not that it's awful or the worst thing in the world when this happens....but is a bit dis-heartening (probably not using that word properly) when I'm down several thousand, cashing out a few hundred or a thousand, and someone trying to congratulate me for a "big win". It's not the cashier/dealer's fault, but is annoying nonetheless.
When you're meeting up with someone at a certain time and they are extremely late and don't give any warning. If it's a few minutes, okay whatever IDC, there's traffic, they under estimate time to drive somewhere, they take a few extra minutes getting ready or doing something....whatever.
As for the speed trap signals. I am completely against warning people. I follow the rules of the road and one of my pet peeves is seeing people fly by me at 20mph over the limit. Accidents on highways are generally caused by these people which indirectly raises my insurance rates. There is no way I am going to warn that person.
Quote: jjjooogggI'm watching the movie interstellar. It's a drama action movie about science exploration a family. Etc
Loved the movie for the Gargantua mostly. I have a strange fascination regarding super-massive black holes. Overall, not a bad movie, was great to see in theatre.
It used to really bother me when people say congratulations without knowing whether you actually won or not. Now I don`t care so much,of course when you usually win that helps:)

On the way out to redrock canyon there's an RC airplane runway off the side of the road.

Speed traps are a major issue to me--it isn't because I think speeding is just fine; but because I feel that it is a good source of revenue rather than all that great of an accident prevention tool. Why would I say that when speeding (as seen below) is the #2 cause of accidents? I think that police are too often trying to stop the wrong speeders--they sit on the side of the road, target an area, and catch speeders above their tolerance level (something above the speed limit in most cases). Those aren't the most dangerous speeders...the ones they need to catch more of are the ones weaving in and out of traffic (reckless driving) and speeding.
Targeting those folks would still slow the average driver because the police would be patrolling aggressively to find them, so the people would still see lots of flashing lights and stuff but revenue would suffer--they might not be able to stop as many people per shift--and that is not acceptable to many in government. It is kind of the same as confiscation of money and items from people without court convictions or other actions...traffic tickets are easy money.
Here are the top four causes of accidents:
1. Distracted Driving
The number one cause of car accidents is not a criminal that drove drunk, sped or ran a red light. Distracted drivers are the top cause of car accidents in the U.S. today. A distracted driver is a motorist that diverts his or her attention from the road, usually to talk on a cell phone, send a text message or eat food.
2. Speeding
You’ve seen them on the highway. Many drivers ignore the speed limit and drive 10, 20 and sometimes 30 mph over the limit. Speed kills, and traveling above the speed limit is an easy way to cause a car accident. The faster you drive, the slower your reaction time will be if you need to prevent an auto accident.
3. Drunk Driving
When you drink, you lose the ability to focus and function properly and its very dangerous when operating a vehicle. Driving under the influence of alcohol causes car accidents every day, even when they are one the top causes that can be avoided. Always use a designated driver if you go out and drink.
4. Reckless Driving
If you don’t drive carefully, and you may end up in a needless car accident. That’s what often happens to reckless drivers who speed, change lanes too quickly or tailgate before causing a car accident. Reckless drivers are often impatient in traffic so be sure to take extra care around aggressive drivers.
https://seriousaccidents.com/legal-advice/top-causes-of-car-accidents/
(Okay...this is from a lawyer's web site...so take it with a grain of salt!)
We seem to put the majority of our efforts into fighting #2 and #3. I think the better idea is to fight all of the causes of accidents for safer conditions on the road, but especially to go after those who combine their infractions and are just plain dangerous drivers. The guy who picks up a beer at the corner store after a long day at work may be "drinking and driving" but he isn't drunk. He is not the problem. The other guy who blows traffic lights, passes on double yellow lines, and is impatient to get anywhere is the problem.
So...my question is...our we policing behaviors or policing for revenue?
Quote: GWAEI am renting a car in Tampa in 2 weeks. I normally rent from hertz, budget, or enterprise but their rates down there are horrible. My options for a decent rate are Dollar, alamo, thrifty, sixt, or Fox. I have rented from fox before despite their horrible reviews we had no problems. Can anyone recommend which one we should take out of tampa or maybe ones we should avoid. Probably more of a question for trip advisor but I figured I would ask on here since I am already logged in.
Have you used Hotwire and Priceline for your searches? I am not sure of your exact dates, but a search I did over MLK weekend returned some pretty good prices.
I start with two sets of searches normally--
--search the company websites
--search Hotwire, Kayak, and Priceline
Then I pick a price point and usually go with bidding on Priceline if the trip is firm.
I've had good luck, YMMV...
Quote: GWAEThe weird thing was I originally booked my car about 2 months ago for $170ish which was more than I wanted to spend. Last week the same car was $125 so I rebook ed and this morning it is under $100. I am still not getting good prices though on our normal companies, but probably because we are dropping it at FLL and they are charging a lot more for the fee than the ones I asked about.
Have you done research on the company you are using? I would be careful to fully investigate the policies any of the smaller companies...we already know pretty much how the majors handle things...
Is there a speed trap app? If not, you should make one. The problem with the light signal method is that you may miss it while you're texting, eating, counting chips and driving.Quote: RS

Haha I wish I had money to launder.
We actually do go on a lot of mini vacations. It is quite remarkable for our poor status. I am very very good at doing things on the cheap.
In 2015 we did the following.
1. Atlantic City 2 times for 7 days total. Mostly free because of CET hoarded credits.
2. Las vegas, spent a total of like $200 for 4 days
3. Cruise out of NOLA that was free from casino. We did spend about 1800 with taxes, fees, and excursions.
So 12 months and 4 trips and spent less than 3k. We have a few things planned for 2016. Miami/orlando, Vegas, Niagara, and atlantic city. We are blessed to be able to do these thing on limited money. However we aren't saving much for retirement but I will dead before 60 anyways so it don't matter.

I have been working on it for 5 years now. It is seriously a disease and an addiction. I gave up pop yesterday for the 20th time. So far so good 30 hours in, however I feel like I want to punch someone in the face and I am highly cranky. I know I am yet I can't stop it. My mom suggested taking something with caffeine in it do I at least wouldn't have withdrawal but caffeine is part of the thing I need to give up.

I feel what you are speaking to. I take 5-6 mini-vacations a year as statistically in my chosen career, I will live 2 years after I retire or not live past my 58th birthday. Live life while you can and get as much enjoyment out of it you can. If I live longer it is taken care of and will have as much fun as I can.

My money is on a game of "Never Have I Ever"
Quote: GWAEUmmm I think we need to hear the entire story
She is of legal age.
Within the last month, we (my group of friends) got together for an evening of drinks and socializing. My best friend and his fiance have been making comments about how I should pursue her (the sister referenced above). I stated my initial apprehension, given that she's a decade younger than I, though in no way undesirable beyond that.
Following the conclusion of the evening, wherein nothing happened, I opted to text her the next morning as she was heavily intoxicated the night before, and I figured it'd be a good time to check on her.
After some talking back and forth, we hooked up a week later. In the wake of what happened, my best friend was still pretty adamant that she and I see where this goes. His fiance however, suddenly changed her entire way of thinking, and was incredibly persistent that we discontinue any further contact. The brother of the involved, was told of what happened by me. Initially, he was fine with it, indicating that she's an adult and can make her own decisions.
A day later, he also changed his mind, and spent a good chunk of time telling me how he thinks that she and I should also discontinue. The girl's parents also don't think it's a good idea, and are very against the idea as well.
All in all, an interesting situation to be involved in. I've ended the friendship with my best friend's fiance, and the girl's brother. I'm quite sure that this will have an effect on the friendship of my best friend, but even that doesn't particularly bother me at this point.
In the end, I regret absolutely nothing, and feel pretty good about it.
Quote: GWAEWell if you feel no concern about losing a friend then he probably wasn't a great friend to beginn with. I hope a girl that more than likely is just a fling is worth it.
Right? Best friend I'd take a bullet for, easy. We'll see what happens.

XD I'm a pretty social person, so the best of both worlds isn't hard to come by. Though to be honest, I'm much more inclined to focus on financial gain this year rather than friendship. I suspect the volume of women in my life will increase with that.
Not that it bothers me.
"Most of us on the skids know this, File for social security disability and SSI, ( even if there is not much wrong with you) Once you have your file/claim number ( you will get it as soon as you turn in your claim) go to welfare and apply, BY LAW they must give you 264 dollars a month plus 200 in food stamps if you are single. they must do this until your claim is settled! you have MANY appeals so this can last several years!
I know people who live on the outskirts of Henderson NV who have behave doing this for years, they have three room tents and portable generators and air conditioners from wally! They are living large compared to the average deadbeat!"
Crazy.

You can get sugars from alternate sources as well, which can help curb cravings. Fruit is an excellent source to replenish what your body needs. If it's caffeine like GWAE mentioned, then my own personal suggestion would be some tea.
I need as much sugar/food as I can get, so i'm all good. I just know it's addictive and tea isn't going to help. On a side note I hear diet soda actually has the reverse affect. Perhaps it has something to do with not satisfying your sugar craving, therefore you eat other or more junk to make up for it.Quote: DodsferdYou can get sugars from alternate sources as well, which can help curb cravings. I have also read that diet sodas make a person crave sugar.
I had a horrible headache most of today. I have now gone almost 3 days without a single caloried drink and not a single carb. Co worker had chips today and I almost went insane but I made it through.

The Mrs. & I did South Beach Diet a few years back. The first two weeks, we did no sugar -- not even fruit, and close to no carbs at all. It was rough, but by the end of those two weeks, my carb cravings all but disappeared. I ended up losing about 20 lbs. in the 3 mos. we did the diet. Unfortunately, I have since found all of the lost pounds, and some of their friends as well! :P
I hope you are able use this carb fast as a springboard for a healthier 2016!
But - I lift weights - so I consider myself more stocky than fat. And yeah, I like to eat. I need a 12 step program for Nutella.
My best advice is do what you love - but if you can find a good reason why - lose some weight if you can. If you have no "why",(as in, Why should I lose weight?) any results would be short lived.
