They mentioned before today's show that were James still playing after Friday's game then he would have a week's break.

It's actually a two week break. That's the length of the Teacher's Tournament. If Holzhauer wins this Friday, we won't see him again until Monday, May 20th.

I read somewhere that they record 5 a day and do that two days a week. Thus it is likely they recorded the teacher's tournament on two days in a week towards the end of March. I'm hearing they recorded through the end of their year already. They moved the dates up so Alex could do cancer treatment. The last taping date was April 6.

I'm hearing they expect to resume taping some time in July. They have several regular weeks of shows, plus a teen tournament and teachers tournament. Not sure about the ToC.

...The last taping date was April 6....

I also read, presumably referring to Wednesday's show...

They finished the season in April. The last episode will air at the end of July. The episode you saw today was filmed at the end of February.

So they probably didn't take a real break. That site also mentions that they usually record on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but did do it on Saturdays towards the end of this season. https://www.reddit.com/r/Jeopardy/comments/bc7o0v/jeopardy_taping_schedule/

That's good news for you if you make it that far. No way he is still on that long.

Regarding training for the show:

How do you get your buzzer timing down? Did you practice to be so effective in that area?

I did practice. I read a book actually by a former champion who talked about what he did with the buzzer, and I’ve been trying to practice his techniques. I try clicking at home, but you can’t see the lights that signal exactly when to buzz in. But you get into a rhythm when you’re playing the game. I think that’s the most helpful part.

So there is a winning technique...

...buzzer...there is a winning technique...

If you see today's program and the first question, you'll notice James doesn't show his hand on the buzzer whereas everyone else does. (Hope the image thing works I've created a tinypic account for it.)

I havent been reading this thread because I thought there might be some spoilers.

My wife mentioned him to me the other day since he is pro sports bettor and plays poker. I guess she caught an episode or two. I told her, I didnt even know what the guy looks like since I haven't watched TV in a while. She mentioned he seemed a little strange.

Then she found this in the Sunday paper(I know, its now all ready Thursday, better late than never) and mentioned it to me.

Diss! You dissed him! Go directly to jail, do not pass Go, do not collect $200, do not dare do this again or you may be the pariah of the site!
