I was playing that trainer a minute ago and noticed if you draw to 21 with an Ace in your hand it will still let you hit. I had A,4,6 and hit and got an A and the correct strategy advice. I guess I am used to the casino not letting you hit when you reach 21. Guess I am still trying to wake up lol

FWIW, at least in tournament play, it's not always wrong to hit soft 21. You may need to double down the 11 to get more money on the table, depending on position and competitor's bankrolls, and what cards you've already seen in play.

I don't know any card counting indices to any level of detail so I can't say, but I think there could easily be some situations where it's correct there as well.

So I think that is why the trainer might allow you to hit it, though perhaps nearly always caution that it's not your best option.

There was some BJ variant that Wiz said it was correct to double on BJ. I forget when, it was many years ago.

PRESENT STATUS:

Still doing poorly with Basic Strategy. Getting many right but its mostly guesswork.
Gave up on Pai Gow Tiles.

Housing: Still in the county poorhouse. Will meet with a social worker next week for my Emergency Section 8 application but its just paperwork. Without Section 8, they won't evict me from the poorhouse, they just make me pay the full rent on my own plus utilities which works out to about $224.00 deficit per month. Food is extra but I have almost 35 pounds of beans and five ponds of rice stockpiled.

Food Stamps: If I have to pay full rent my food stamps go from $15.00 a month to $18.00 a month.

Food Bank: I've been reduced from two bags of junk food to one bag of junk food one day a month.

Meals On Wheels: I still get MoW deliveries but am scheduled for re-certification next week sometime.

Medical: Was handing someone a loaf of Wonder bread and lost my balance, but they saw I was in trouble and grabbed my arm.

Will get opened up tomorrow and IF they think it can be done they will insert a new catheter through the fifteen year old stent that is 99% occluded.

Good luck tomorrow with your medical procedure.

Are you saying that you only get $15 a month in food stamps? Or, are you saying that you have to pay $15?

Good luck with your procedure.

In caretaking my mother they have insisted on Living Will /DNR/medical surrogacy/medical POA forms with each new doctor or the same doc, new year. So I would not in itself, attach a dreadfull anxiety to them asking for one in this particular case, though I doubt it will be pleasant or painless.

How is it possible that you only qualify for $15 a month in food stamps?

Beats me but two social workers checked into it. I still think its an error but with my batting average in the Luck department, I guess I should be happy about it.

there is a billing code for that which is why everyone requests/talks about it. The docs are making some extra money for it.

GREETINGS:
County Social Worker just dropped me home.
There was nothing they could do about the 99% occluded stent but they did feel that I had developed sufficient corrorally circulation.
They found another artery at 90% occlusion but were able to insert a stent thru that one. and they kept me overnight.
nothing else much happening but now I have more energy even though I couldn't sleep a wink in the hospital.

I don't know it is about the month of November. Always been unlucky.

Even the designer of the Seven Sisters who was probably doing the "T'pec" 300 miles out seems to have survived all his ordeals until that Polish freighter rammed his starboard Amas, thus dislodging him to the delight of the circling sharks had problems with November.

My poker girl thread, forum/gambling/poker/25950-blogger-obituary, was a drug 'overdose' in late November. You may recall my depiction of the drug world from the POV of a person who made just one mistake in a world wherein no mistakes are tolerated. I too made a mistake in a world where no mistakes are tolerated which is why I refer to myself in my blog as beyond redemption or salvation.

True to form it seems November is shaping up to be a doozy for me. I have not been making headway in relearning blackjack or reading skills and I am definitely losing the battle of the waistline. It seems my emergency section 8 housing re-application is not going well. brain damage was far more severe than I suspected. I intend to continue the struggle but is obvious that I am not really making headway and the Social Workers are no longer enthusiastic.

Thank you all for your concern, encouragement and support.

I thought once you were on Section 8 or whatever you just stay there on it unless your income changes. Would they actually kick you out on the street?

I have applied for section 8 but not been granted it. I missed the meeting for the application renewal because they said 'address first above' but printed it on the wrong form, so I stayed home waiting for them to show up.

They don't kick me out, they just stop paying my rent and utilities and then it becomes a civil eviction matter, since I now pay $95.00 in rent but will go to $760.00 upon termination of the county's assistance. I still get MoW delivered here though and I don't have to pay a cent for it.

During WW2, English women would advise USA and Canadian soldiers to "keep their peckers up", meaning to keep smiling and be of good cheer. Of course US and Canadian soldiers thought it was a reference to a distinctly different part of their anatomy.

Have you thought about trying to make some extra income online?

Also, isn't latest Casino bonuses looking for writers all the time? You can write and you have some knowledge of gambling. Try to contact Mike and ask him about this. From what I understand, considering a few people I know who are doing it, they will take just about anyone. 🤣

I think they pay fairly well from what I understand.

Have you thought about trying to make some extra income online?

I used to be quite active online. I ran a research service for awhile but it didn't bring in all that much money. I somewhere, somehow must have done a good job for someone because I got a lot of clients who wanted certain medical issues explored and who all used this same Maryland bank. So I knew they were direct or indirect federal employees. I know a few of them were in the Defense Intelligence Support Industry and were mainly paying for a closed mouth. I also did a lot of pro-bono work for victims of child abuse hysteria, those people were so broke I might as well work for free in getting them expert witnesses. I ran a Transnational and Maritime Search And Rescue consultancy for awhile. much of this online stuff was never intended to bring in money but even those things that were intended to bring in money were never an impressive income stream.

HAD not HAVE. Even in rehab, I couldn't do a simple Gin Rummy game against dolts. I have been trying to relearn basic strategy but its just not sinking in.

I've moved!
Or at least it seems like I've moved.

I hired a Deep Cleaning duo to both clean and re-organize my apartment. I now have wider aisles, new furniture layout, a new space in which to live albeit designed by a Learning Disabled cleaning team.
It is an adventure. And I even ordered a bargain-priced Dumbell set so as to no longer have these bad falls from sudden vertigo.

New hopes in a "new" space. Did 1.0 miles on my mini-bike. Don't know how this Sunday Delivery of the dumb-bell will work out but I will give it a try.

Ask your doctor about positional vertigo, caused when the naturally occurring calcium carbonate crystals in the middle ear, shift in the ear canal. My doctor sent me to an ENT who performed the Epley Maneuver in his office, and immediately corrected the problem.

This maneuver is also effective.

QUESTIONS REMAINING:

What do members recommend as a tutorial/training site:

for Poker?

for Pai Gow Poker?

for Pai Gow Tiles?

for Carnival Games, particularly that game(?) where hands are dealt to even the empty spots on the table?

UPDATES on other matters::

my dumb bell weights will arrive about Dec 30th. Twenty pounds each.

i'll get an overnight sleep test scheduled in the new year to determine nocturnal and diurnal oxygen levels.

I do two miles in thirty minutes fifty minutes on my mini exercise bike and I do actual walking twice a day even if its a bit cold or rainy outside, but it surly tries the soul and the soles.
