If you really want a phone for emergencies only (ie, 911 calls) you don't even need a plan, just a phone. Even with no sim card or plan, you can make an emergency call.

An emergency for me is calling a tow truck
or somebody to come and rescue me. None
of it involves 911.

Business is different. Family is to see, and for the
women to talk to on the phone. I have nothing to
say to friends on the phone, why would I. I see
them when I see them. Certain kinds of men love
talking on the phone, chattering for hours and hours.

I'm not one of those.

There is absolutely no difference between talking on the Phone and posting crap on internet forums. People often use the internet because they can hide and "TALK" because they are socially awkward and would freeze up like a scared child or don't have the balls to say things live or to people faces. Perhaps it takes them forever to even think of what to say.

Has anyone reputable on this forum even meet you in person?

Boy are you wrong. On the phone you are
completely at the mercy of the other person.
They say something you & HAVE to respond.
They call and if you answer, they have
you. On forums you control EVERYTHING.
When you post, who you post to, who you
choose to ignore. Nothing like using the phone
at all.

I would bet they have but didn't know it. However, if someone wants to remain anonymous, it's his right.

Yup, and it drives her nuts that I have no phone
that's turned on. She's used to it, though, and rarely
even mentions it now. When cells came out she
always got me a phone on her contract. I said
phooey on that and got my own TracFone for
emergencies only. She never wants anything except
endless chatter, which I won't abide.

Sounds good and I am confident she isn't in a freezer now. Very selfish though Bob.

Back in the 90's I met several locals in person
that I met on the net. Didn't like it, a few times
it was a real shocker. Made it a point never to
do it again. I will never meet anybody I talk to
on the net ever again.

One of my best friends is a farmer who lives in
IA. We met on a TV forum in 2009 and have
never met. We exchange emails every day, and
have thousands of them. He's five years younger
than me and I have no idea what he even looks
like. We seldom discuss personal things, just
everything else. As I'm tying this I got an email
from him about his wind farm. Cool.

Exactly. That's what Fuller meant about having
a rope tied to your ankle. They jerk and you
jump. Mark Twain couldn't imagine the phone
being more than a fad, he had no idea the
penchant people have for useless conversation
if given the chance.

Indeed.

You kind of proved some of my points. On the phone you have to ave real communication skills. Like I said its harder for you to talk to someone in person or live on the phone you have less courage. On the net You can hide and remain anonymous, u can ignore people wen you are wrong or cant prove something you don't have to man up, just ignore, hide or repeat the same things. You ave time to think and make sit up. No stuttering and and Stammering. I ave no doubt you are a shy wallflower in person and on the phone. If you really get your feelings hurt and are totally wrong you can just disappear.

Most people your age would think its worst then using the phone as far as the being a man stand point. I'm sure most men your age would call us all a bunch of internet forum sissy's.
