The Quad is on my list of chips to get, and I hope I can pick up one if I make it to when I attend WoVCon ]I[ in June, but I wouldn't expect any to be in play for at least a couple more months from now.

Fixed that for you:-)

I'm hoping that Quad and Aliente and Texas Station and Arizona Charlies Boulder chips will all be available by June. I think the Westin is also trying to shake the Casuarina name. I might also try one last time to get the remaining SoCal chips that i need (Tommy's saloon in El Centro and Bruce's bar in Blythe)

I appreciate the way you always look out for me. ;-)

My wife and I have marked up a calender with our "no conflicts yet" periods out through June and penciled in some possible trips. WoVCon ]I[ is on the list, but none of the trips are considered definite. We also have Vegas/Laughlin lightly penciled in for February -- we don't like Vegas in hot weather and would not have been there in June 2011 and May 2012 if those hadn't been the scheduled periods for WoVCons. We prefer Vegas from late September through the end of April, though a couple of promos did lure us into going again for the end of August and early September this year -- that was a mistake I shouldn't have repeated.

Now if the upcoming WoVCon were scheduled for mid March 2013, I could probably make a commitment to it, just cancelling the February plans, but I don't know about our doing it again in 140° weather.

As for chips to get, my list for Vegas now includes Alamo/TA, Aliante, Quad, and Downtown Grand (former Lady Luck, supposedly to open in late 2013). Unless I start collecting chips from the card rooms, which I have no plans to do, I have no more to get in Southern California. Maybe some day I'll get to the upper part of the state, perhaps combined with a return to Lake Tahoe.

So it cost you $3,000 and how many points did you end up with? 3,000? Also, does that mean the machine(s) you played held 10% on you?

I was thinking of trying DIAD sometime this year on VP. I seem to go to Laughlin more often than Vegas these days and I already get tons of free room offers at Laughlin Harrah's. Maybe I'll try it at Tropicana...

FWIW, I didn't attempt this yet because of the new "Tier Credit Bonus"...
But I'm going in on Saturday and going to hit multiplay 25c JoB hard and earn 2500 tier credits (to get 5000 free)
I'm hoping it'll show free rooms immediately...otherwise it's out to Sams Town for a while...

about 3100. Hit one quad and that's about it. Everything else just did not work out.

So back to the host. Say you have a pretty high Theo, how do you know what is reasonable to ask for and receive in comps (in addition to the room)? For instance, should every meal be comped, how about money for the gift shop, other things? Thanks.

The phrase, "It never hurts to ask," comes to mind.

17. After 30 years, Rio in Las Vegas is losing its status and shine. http://bit.ly/2He4nV4
Nearly 30 years after the Rio opened, the red and blue jewel that helped catapult Las Vegas to a new level with its buffet and nightclub has lost its status along with its shine.

Hey, I missed that story on the Rio. Sad but true. I hadn't been there for fifteen years but then went last summer to see Penn and Teller. I can't say it's a dump but it's certainly a shadow of its former glory. This quote captures the feeling...

Remember when that Flamingo Rd Strip spur was the hottest area in town? Of course thirty years is an eternity in Vegas. Think about it: when the Rio first opened it probably featured hot new table games like "Caribbean Stud Poker" and "Spanish 21". Times change.

Thanks Gialmere,
Sad but true.

Are you frickin kidding me??? You re-open a thread that has been dead for 6 years to post your daily news (that just so happens to have ads for your games at the bottom)??? Ridiculous.
