I would like to report that since MGM took over operations at Borgata, both WizardofOdds and WizardofVegas are blocked on their guest wifi network.

Sad!

That's great news, what a selling point
for both sites. They're so dangerous
to the casino industry, they've been
banned from half the Strip casinos
wifi. You can't buy advertising like this.

Two cautionary points to be considered:

One: Is this blocking merely from the "lobby area" network access where they do not want loiterers sucking up the bandwidth and lounging in the chairs?

Two: Is the blocking part of a software package such as a library or school might use to block certain sites based solely on terminology rather than on content.

Either way, I'm not too surprised that MGM would do this.

Use Opera VPN for mobile, Opera browser with VPN for laptop/desktop. All for free and will defeat content and site blocking. Caution: do not assume any free VPN provides security. The only tweak I use is to set Location to US instead of the default Autoselect. Autoselect tended to hang in some locations. Might be fixed, I haven't checked lately.

No to both. It's in the room wifi (only place I tried it.)

It's not third-party software.

Maybe people are looking up strategy charts for blackjack or video poker while inside the casino, and while sitting at table/machine. So the casino has taken steps to prevent criminal activity. (assume it is in fact illegal to view them on a mobile.)

I've never needed WiFi for my phone. And I certainly don't trust casinos to plug my phone into these:

Possibly, but blocking this for that reason is more likely going to piss patrons off than save them money from doing this.

Gamblers tend to internalized the world. Mental health demands a good balance of what's inside and out. We have to learn not to take seriously what goes on all around us. There's squat we can do about it, and it doesn't happen because of us.

Perhaps, it's like the libraries and schools. Some things are just blocked because kids might be using it. Who knows. I know that I couldn't care less because this gambling stuff has no life impact on anything inside or out.
Believers are the ones who keep at it long after they've been told it can't be done. On the other hand, the real experts shouldn't care about the crackpots. But, if the wrong answer begs the question, then the wrong question begs the answer.
