" DO NOT carry it with you " That's what's on the back of my SS card.

You don't have to carry it continuously. (I don't think)

Damn, what's the big deal? You bring your SSN card or second form of ID with you once to casino to set it up. Then after that you leave it at home or wherever you leave it.

SS card is bad idea, two forms of Gov't issued ID? WTF? Why isn't one good enough? Maybe next month, or next casino, requires three, or four!
Give em your drivers license ( assuming your license # isn't your SS# like it is in some states ). Then hand em your passport, then tell em to blow you....

NEVER carry your SS card on you!

Believe it or not in NV the casino can hold out 28% if you don't show them one. Most won't do that however if they wanted to mess with you they can.

They verify the SSN with your ID. They do not need the card as it is not proof of anything.

They shouldn't need your card. Asking for your card is pointless. That doesn't mean that they won't have a policy of demanding your card.

On three separate occasions, at three different casinos, I (or someone with me) have had a casino demand to see an actual SS card. On the most recent occasion, they wouldn't pay a jackpot without withholding until they saw the card. Now I just carry the damn thing with me, it's stupid and slightly risky but it's easier than arguing with morons.

I don't get the "it's risky to carry your Social Security Card"

I once made a list of all of the entities that have my SSN, and then thought about the number of employees that would have access to that number if they want, and I just decide not to worry. I haven't the slightest idea where my actual SS card is, but I do remember it has no picture on it.
I'm told a pretty savvy 'computer guy' who has your name and address, would be an odds on favorite to be able to find your SSN in less than an hour.
