I lost $500 on this machine and then gave up having hit only 1 quad. But this is without a doubt the best VP I've ever played.
It was available on 25 cent through $2 denominations. The meters reset at $100, $200, and $1000 respectively.

Try looking at the top of the payschedule. Even without the meters the payback is almost as good as FPDW.

With all three meters at their reset values, the game is 6/5 Bonus Poker, which returns 96.87%.

With the meters shown in the picture, the return is just over 102%. It would seem that it is solely the meters (at the values shown) which make it a good game.

This assumes the meters reset to the standard amounts:
4000 coins ($1,000) for a Royal Flush
400 coins ($100) for Four Aces
200 coins ($50) for Four 2s, 3s, 4s

.6252% advantage before meter movement.

The paytable isn't 1-2-3-4-5-6-25-80-160-50-800... it is 1-2-3-4-5-6-25-40-80-50-800... which is standard 6/5 Bonus Poker.

How can you claim that the 5-coin reset prizes for quad Aces or 2s/3s/4s are twice that which is indicated by the paytable?

From the picture, it merely looks like those two quads haven't been hit in a while (and/or the meter rise % is relatively high).

I saw all the quad meters reset; It was indeed $100 and $200.

How much could one earn on this at the $2 level?

My apologies, I completely missed that in your first post. That's a very good find indeed with the premium quads starting out at twice their normal values.

In your defense I did edit the post and add that line so you may have read it before I did that.

Unfortunately it is on a cruise ship. The good part about that is that they do not issue tax forms :)

Wow. From what people say about cruise ships someone must have made quite an error. Or it's gaffed.

You should make sure the meters reset at the doubled amounts first:

50¢ denom: Four Aces should reset to $400 (not $200); Four 2s,3s,4s should reset to $200 (not $100)
$1 denom: Four Aces should reset to $800 (not $400); Four 2s,3s,4s should reset to $400 (not $200)
$2 denom: Four Aces should reset to $1600 (not $800); Four 2s,3s,4s should reset to $800 (not $400)

I would double-check these reset values for sure to see which denominations have the error; it might only be quarters that have the error.

That depends on what you hit.

If you can lose $500 playing quarters, you should be able to lose $4000 playing $2, no problem.

The trouble with progressive 6/5BP is that it's just as bad as 6/5BP, unless you hit one of the progressives... and I'm saying that as someone who plays 6/5BP from time to time.
May the cards fall in your favor.

Just remove all the A's. No way to hit four aces and no way to hit a royal. Although, players might start to get suspicious if they haven't seen an Ace is several hours of play...

Certainly possible, and I had TERRIBLE luck on the game, losing $500 very quickly, but I believe the game was fair. They were using IGT machines, and the cruise line (Crystal) is pretty high end, I don't believe they make much on the casino compared to cruise fares. Also I saw someone hit 4 Aces, and multiple people including my brother snapped the bonus quads meter while I was there.

Yes, I was asking for academic reasons, the cruise is over and I couldn't afford to play at that level anyway. I am 100% sure that the pay schedule was the same for all levels. It did not appear to be a mistake. On the last day I even commented to the pit critter who I had become friendly with that the VP paytable was very generous for a cruise and he agreed, so it may have been set that way intentionally.

I don't think that they are trying to maximize income from the casino, craps was 3x4x5x odds, BJ was $5 and 3:2 (and I think S17 but I could be wrong), etc.

Regular 6/5 Bonus is generous on a cruise ship too, so he might think that's what they're offering. I would be shocked if it was actually intentional. Were any of the other VP games good?

I think you overestimate the astuteness/attentiveness of some people-- my favorite was when I was watching VP while waiting for somebody and they were playing JoB style on a DW game. Throwing out the deuces. Like an idiot, I tried to be helpful and point that out to get yelled at for my trouble.

Those who believe all cruise ships have bad pay tables on VP machines are wrong.
Yes, most of the VPs are pretty bad.
A few years ago, I went on a cruise and was surprised to find out they had FPDW at $1/$2 level.
I played at $2 level hit four deuces twice. No tax, no W-2G, so sweet!
It's even better than Las Vegas!
