Looks like I will be in town this weekend, and I am looking for some local advice. Which sports book will be best for watching the two games on Sunday?

I am looking for:

-A comfortable place to sit that I don't have to fight for
-Free drinks/food with <$500 action
-Good screens
-Near strip
-Low smoke is good, but from another thread I see that is not realistic
-Decent opportunity to bet (I am not looking for soft lines, but at least reasonable payouts on parlays, etc)
-Books that will take multi-sport parlays
-Live-midgame betting. Venetian/Palazzo has that electronic thing... does anybody else have that?

I can't answer all of your questions, and I know that you want near Strip (which I assume is not Strip) but I'll give some info based on my experience on the Strip:

No Cantor sportsbooks offer drink tickets. Someone will correct me, but I think the typical range is about $$150-200 in bets per drink ticket. You can always smile and tip the person that takes your bet in an attempt to get them to give you more drink tickets, but I think that fails more often than not. Bottom line, you're probably not getting more than 2-3 drink tickets for $500.

If you have a smartphone Cantor has an app that you can use anywhere in the state of Nevada. So you wouldn't really need a sportsbook that offered in-game wagering.

As for parlay payouts, check this:

I usually watch games at Lagasse Stadium or the new Venetian sportsbook.

Lagasse Stadium was recently described as more of a Sports Bar that happened to have a betting window than a Sports Book.
However, if the "Food and Drink Minimums May Apply" does not phase you or you feel that you will clearly be meeting any such minimum, then I see no reason to quibble about Sports Bar versus Sports Book issue. I think it was "Vegas Chatter" that had a fairly recent rundown on places to watch games.

The top of my list of suggestions would be the Mandalay Bay, Mirage, and Bellagio. However, finding a seat will be the tough part. I would bring a book and show up at least an hour before the game to secure one. About the smoking, I think the Mandalay has very good ventilation and you'll find it the least objectionable of the three. The Mirage the most.

This is a good point and probably true.

Now for my little Lagasse Stadium secret... they charge a food/drink minimum for table and seats, but not bar seats. I've watched both college and pro football games there at the bar by arriving like 30-45 minutes before kickoff. There are multiple tvs above the bar and while it's not a huge sportsbook screen experience, you still get a bit of the classic sportsbook ambiance, in my opinion. Besides, the drink service is way better at the bar than it would be at most, if not all, sportsbooks.

I will concur with the Wizard, at least as far as MB is concerned. Its my favorite due to big screens and the layout. No smoke issues, but very crowded and no really good food options.
For a day like Sunday, pretty much every book will be crazy crowded, though.

Thank you for all the input. Does Mandalay Bay have electronic betting? Or should I just use the Cantor app?

Mandalay Bay is convenient for other reasons.

hey
MB doesn't have electronic betting. There is a Cantor book at the Trop nearby, and I also assume you could use your app within MB..
good luck! I will be there as well...

Station Casinos also has an app. They used to offer 10% of your bets back as bonus play for new signups, up to $50... and another 10%, up to $50, if you refer a friend. A few years ago, before the app, I think Cantor was doing something similar when they had those handheld betting machines. I don't know if these are still valid, but you'd be wise to look into it.

deedubbs,
does Cantor still use those handhelds? I used them a few years ago, but when I bet in-game now I just sit at a console. Btw the William Hill app is good.
thanks

If you don't mind being gnawed upon by the elderly and infirm, you can try out the newly revamped sports book at The Silverton Casino just south of Mandalay Bay. I was there in early December and it looks like it has potential.
