Mahoning Valley Race course, otherwise known as Hollywood Austintown, has blown my mind. Their Konami Quick Strike must award machines have been drastically changed. Major movement went from $4 to $25, as well for the minor to $25 from $2.

One bank the casino completely raided the progressives, along with making the meter change, by resetting the machines to the resets. I did not actually verify the meter rates, but got the information from a friend there and don't have all day waiting and watching for the almost up to $50 in bets at $.40. In the news lately have been stories about the casino having to pay $500,000 annual payments to host cities with questions about whether they have already paid them included within other payments. This might be the impetus for them to believe people are really that stupid because the casino management was acting in the news like the money was going to wreck the Titanic and soil their underwear as well.
I am a robot.

I watched a $19.97 minor (hit by $20). In $80 of play, it didn't even move $0.01. I left.

I've been on the lookout for must hit jackpots, and I've come to the conclusion that they are not really worth anything. Very rarely are these things close enough to the upper limit jackpot. And even if they are, even casual gamblers are not going to walk away if the jackpot is a buck or two away. Now for these $1000+ jackpots, it could get interesting. But still, I haven't seen any even within $100 yet! As I said, not really worth the time taken to patrol the grounds. Might as well save the 5-10 minutes lol.

Yep. The civilians will go as far as call friends to bring them more money.

I don't look hard either myself, but I don't think I've seen a WMS must hit game ($500 major; $50 minor) to be in a position worth playing. Low $40s and $450 at best. Most of the time, much worse.

It's all gambling. Always was and will be. The only thing that changes is the facade.

Same as a half-billion dollar lottery. Positive EV doesn't change the fact that you have to be the one who hits it. And then get your money back before a win.

Long live mc.

Well most of these must hit machines are not linked, so you are going to be the one who hits it.

Yep. If I'm ever lucky enough to find and get on a major at $499.99 and it must hit by $500.00 and it takes $4.00 to move it $0.01, I'll bet all of Bill Gates worth I'll hit it!!

Some will hold the machine for 5 hrs, until their friend comes in on the morning bus. ...on a must-hit-by-$50 which isn't even +EV yet. :-)

In 2010, one friend had a lady give him a machine at $499.88 (max $48 to drop). He bet max, hit a $400 bonus & dropped the $499.88 progressive. Made +$900.

-----
496-497 are the best I've been able to find.

I don't get the highest ones - other people wine & dine the player, make friends, so that they give you the machine when the ATM runs out, or their bus arrives. The "make friends with the players" AP method.

Best on 50s is 49.94. Bill acceptor was full at 2 am. So I came back around 6 am, when they were switching out the cash/ticket boxes, and played it. Dropped on the 1st spin.

My first only-move-when-win was 49.90. Cost me $35 to drop it. Didn't know back then to bet "really small" for low variance.

-----
Rumor is someone in Reno left a $9,987 on a $10,000 progressive.
Twice I've heard about $9,960s. Both cases profit was ~$6,000.

In that case, you have to hit the right machine; and then for substantially less than any lottery.

Back to square-1.

Writing cheesy memoirs alone in the backwoods of Montana. Except, of course, for the local hotel's internet and cheap booze.
