I was under the impression that you can only get to the bonus rounds on many machines by hitting a max bet on that line. Doesn't that (edit: i.e., only playing one coin) change the house edge?

(Expect this to happen if you try it.)

What are playing the big birtha machine at the casino entrance or something ? Are you chatting people up? turning around making eye contact? Do you wear a neon orange shirt and talk to yourself while banging on the machine?

I have played thousands of hands/spins with 1 coin on VP and slots (that was the best strategy for the games).

I never had anyone say anything to me anything like that.

Iíve been playing slots at 1c/spin.

You might look back in the video poker section. One of my usual haunts has a few 1c multi-line machines where $20 will last for days. The blue-haired chain smoking old ladies love it. (3 line, 15c max bet! Great camaraderie; lots of friendly ribbing between the high rollers on that bank.)

The big problem is that the paytables are severely clipped, 6/5 JoB for example. You either need to hit a lot of low hands (2 pairs, 3oaks), or a lot of high hands (4oaks or better).

The purpose is not to win money as such but to lose less.
You can see videos of the Wizard playing slots at 5c/spin. I'm sure the Wizard would approve of 1c/spin.

As for being approached by people. It's happened lots of times to me. I think the general slots population are not used to seeing people play 1c/spin and that's why it sparks their curiosity.

It also provides insight into why people play slots. The fact that lots of people have told me that I wont win by playing 1c/spin says that a part of the reason people are playing slots is to win money.

And that is one of the other things I'm doing as well; I want to understand why people gamble. Particularly the psychology of slots players. There might be some good that will come out of it.

.

I'm sure he will be right on that.

In the mean time just print that out and slap it on the machine.

I figured you must be inviting comments or acting unusual when you're playing because normally sloties don't usually noticed anything but big wins.

If I seen someone doing this next to me, I would think

A) they just don't know what they are doing

B) they are really really broke/cheap/board looking for free drinks

C) they were rounding off extra credits to avoid getting paid pennies

In the mean time do a google search why people play slots, tons of information . Apparently it's like crack.

Saw a lady in Tunica bet one line of 25 total at 2c this past weekend. She hit it for $20. It happens occasionally. Wiz has done it to help collect data. Might as well lose less when the game sucks.

Personally, I look for older higher-denomination machines that don't accept fractional credits, and will print out a separate ticket for any fractional credits rather than stacking them.

Around here, at least, a lot of the $1 3-reel 1-line machines haven't been updated with the newer firmware to accept pennies. 1 ticket in, 2 tickets out.

I've even been asked by people "Do you want my machine?" It certainly does raise a lot of questions. But, I've never had any problems by staff and that's the important part.

I have found you get different types of slot players. Some are really talkative and others are dead silent.
The worst of the lot are the old women. Don't get me started on them... :)

I would worry about the quality of that evidence. At least I know the people around me are genuine.

Another question I ask myself; Are the people sane? Watching someone playing $5/spin who you know can't really afford it...
It could be a madhouse. ;)

a lot of the $1 3-reel 1-line machines.

Are very boring after 20 minutes. Imagine playing 10 hrs on a double diamond progressive machine. NOT FUN.
