When Casinos reopen what will be different at the Craps table? BJ and other card game dealers will probably wear masks for a while. I was at Mohegan Sun when they shut down. They turned off every other slot machine to separate people a day before shutting down. What could be done to be safe at a Craps table? Thank you.

Facial recognition is screwed because asking someone to take a mask off is counterproductive

You can't wear a hat, they frown on hoodies, and now you're required to wear a mask, and then pick up and toss dice that are passed to the next guy when you're done?

I always thought the no-hat rule was just a way to exhibit the power folks with a mall cop mentality thought they had over people. Now.... no hats, but masks.

Look for brawls to break out in the bars when one of the drunks sneezes.

Although, will there be bars and clubs anymore?

Will all these casinos last until 2022 while closed? They can't be sold, there's no market.

I’m pretty sure I’ve worn a baseball cap while shooting dice, though it’s been a few years

I'm guessing that blowing on the dice will now be frowned upon.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

No more blowing on the dice, brings me back to the last night we were open.
I'm a dealer at a midwest casino and we were shutting down about 1am on March 15. Last shooter was called by the box man.
This is the first time dude has shot that night at the table, previously he had passed. Takes him about 2 minutes to pick his bones, then with each and every single shot, he proceeds to bring them within about half inch of his mouth and give a nice kiss and blow to them.
His roll lasts about 20 maybe 25 rolls, and makes his sharpshooter bet of 3 points. Everyone colors up and bails, box brings up the lid then scoots over to the desk and grabs the spray sanitizer. He then drowns the dice in the stuff as we close up the game. I think he even gave a quick shot in the pick up bag before he sealed them up.
Now im not a germaphobe, nor paranoid. I spent Four in The Corps, and 30 more in the restaurant business before joining the dark side and becoming a casino dealer. Ive been shot up with more anti something vaccines than I care to count, had my fair share of Hep shots, tetanus shots and more. But wouldn't you think that the general public and normal humans would not lick the damn dice if they were closing the casino you were playing in because of a world wide viral pandemic spread by oral secretions among other things????

Just wondering....

Haha....That's normal!

I wash my hands before and right after every session at a Craps table or slot machines. I did this long before this pandemic.

Most people cough and don' t cover. I was watching a poker game and a player coughs and covers thinking he did the right thing. Trouble is he coughed into his hand and then handles his cards and chips! The line for the Buffet is a mile long yet no one in the restroom washing hands. I see people walking around with face masks not covering their nose.

Hopefully most people will learn from this and be more considerate and hygienic. The others, I think its called "thinning the heard".

Be safe. Thanks

I honestly don't think a mask will matter, think the software likes to focus around the upper cheeks very much between eyes and ears, though the rest of the face makes things easier to detect.

Did most houses prohibit dice players from wearing hats? Did that same prohibition apply elsewhere in casinos?

I think facial recognition is more about the eyes, and separation. Wearing masks to cover nose and mouth has never been a problem. Hoodies and covering the eyes had always been an issue.

That would be Aruze Gaming Roll to win Craps. To date...I’ve only heard of 3 tables installed nationwide.

It’s a nice idea....but the industry would have a LONG transition to no chip gaming.

I can't imagine playing craps without cheques. I probably wouldn't play anymore.

Though in the end, I'm not too worried about it. I suspect the response of most casinos will be limited to hand sanitizer dispensers near the tables.

Hello all, long time lurker, first time poster.

I played this game a few times at Four Winds in New Buffalo, MI before the casinos shut down, and didn’t care for it. The first time I had to walk away because I couldn’t get my bets in before time ran out. I’m over 6’ tall and the console is in an awkward place for tall people.

After I got the hang of betting I played a couple more times. I didn’t like how the dice bounced on the hard surface, no chips, and lack of rapport with the dealers. This table was $5 min bet, while the regular tables were $15 min bet. That was the only reason I went back.

I'm not sure what is going to happen on the casino floor as it relates to this virus....other than its pretty clear that the risk for contagion or transfer thru chips, cash, dice, cards, smoke, etc is going to put casinos in the crosshairs.

Hopefully Vegas doesn't have an outbreak that breaks the back....but I suspect gamblers who were used to the old way of a floor running operations might want to prepare themselves for changes...whatever that might be.

I suspect some fairly large inconveniences coming down the casino pike.

I have not played this version of craps...but would definitely give it a try. If the dice bounce less or the potential for sliding is there because of a harder surface....as a player, bring it on! That means there's a chance to observe non random outcomes.

I'll sacrifice all....including dealer rapport, chips or anything else if it means these tables can generate non random outcomes.

The more news I see, day by day, gives me the feeling that casinos are less and less likely to reopen.

Today's news was that MGM has postponed reopening until at least May 22.

And with these two week patterns that they're looking for it appears more likely casinos won't reopen till July.

Then if casinos only start to reopen in July who is to say that craps tables would reopen right away?

Realistically I expect the first gambling to start will be machines which are the easiest to clean, operate and monitor with the fewest number of employees.

Remember when a casino needs to open for one day to maintain their license they don't open a craps table or a blackjack table... they open a few slots in a trailer.

If they are seriously holding to this 14 day deal...I don't see any chance for a long time.

These opening dates have zero relevance....the 14 day trend is what is driving everything. Unless they change the parameters, May 15, May 22 isn't happening.
