Slot players need to know how much bucking of the odds it takes to win.

It seems to me a slot player is usually a flat bettor? If I am right about that, it ought to be pretty easy to figure out the EV per hour of your play. If that works out to be $x per day, and you can say to yourself it gives you adequate entertainment value for the price, then there's nothing anybody should say.
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!” She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

tj,

I think your post is GREAT! I'm not sure I have seen the video poker and slot machines you played, but (shhh, don't tell anyone!) I sometimes play a slot machine that looks like it might be fun, even if my chances of winning are less than at some of the table games.

And, the story you shared was very well written, and (for me) riveting. I know it took a reasonable amount of your time to put it all together as you did, and I appreciate it. Hopefully, you will share your future adventures with us.

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I suppose I'm not an ideal candidate for this forum. I'm certainly a recreational gambler.. . .
I was just really excited about my luck and thought I'd share in case anyone found it interesting.
My mistake for not reading more about what this site is all about before posting. Best of luck guys!

Aw don't be like that, dude.

No-one here meant to make you feel unwelcome. There's nothing wrong with recreational gambling, which many of us enjoy, even slots.

Any new member, especially one who seems to be at risk of taking an ass-kicking from unfair games, will be cared about and offered advice. There's no obligation to appreciate or to take it.

Once again, congratulations on your win and thanks for sharing the report with us grumpy old curmudgeons.
Take care out there. Spare a thought for the newly poor who were happy in their world just a few days ago, but whose whole way of life just collapsed..

Thanks for the feedback guys. I suppose I'm not an ideal candidate for this forum. I'm certainly a recreational gambler. I play the games to have fun and realize that these fancy licensed slots are probably the worst for returns. Trust me, I've been on the losing end in the past. This isn't an avenue for me to make money, I just go to casinos every now and then and play for fun. I would never turn up the next day and drop more than a couple hundred bucks thinking that these kinds of wins are "the norm" or anything like that. There are plenty of members here who are just recreational gamblers. I, for one, enjoyed reading about your success!

Myself, I'm sort of a flat bettor. If a top play is $5, like for example a penny Cashman game, I'll play at the $2.50 level, unless 1) I get a nice hit. Maybe I'll buy in for $100, and get up to $170. I'll play that $70 off at $5. Or, 2) I'm not getting any random Cashman bonuses, so I'll hit the button at $5 for a few spins, to see if I can luck into one. Sometimes it works, usually it doesn't, but these are slots, and slots are all about the mind game you play with them. The worst part is getting the random bonus at $5, and the little guy comes out and respins all the reels for no win @ 10x pay. Whoopie, $3.

Why would you think you're not an ideal candidate for this forum? It's written primarily for recreational gamblers, to help them get the most out of their gambling dollar. Presumably, you. And me, fwiw. And many other regulars.

Guys discuss things here, with an emphasis on the math. There's a mix of pro gamblers, designers, industry people, mathematicians, and engineers, as well as rec players. So some folks are going to tell you slots are not your best advantage. Figures, right?

Enjoy your wins. Thanks for sharing. Hope you decide to read some more and participate.
