Over $600 IRS has different rules if I am not mistaken.
You still were supposed to report it.

You are supposed to report everything. $600 is a cutoff for certain things as part of Obamacare. Before that it was less so.
As to casinos it can be weird. A “jackpot” is usually reported meaning a multiple of what you win. So you could bet $1000 and win $1000 no report but bet $1 won $601 and it gets reported.

Nathan, you do realise that every dollar you ever won on your assorted advantage plays has / had to be voluntarily reported to the IRS so that they could tax you for them. You did keep rigourous records didn't you? In your country, tax on winnings can be a real PITA.
The IRS sees all ! They caught up with that $1,000. That probably means they are onto your other wins too.

Three days for bullying.
You are allowed to express disagreement with Wizard's decision. However, the statement "You don't deserve to be here" is a statement about Nathan as a person and it is unusually offensive because it is made to a member who is autistic, black and female. As is the statement "I wish you weren't here." This goes beyond rude, mean and uncivil, it is offensive on more than one level.
The context? It is that you parachuted into a thread named Nathan's Corner, and unconnected from an on-going discussion, say to Nathan "I wish you weren't here" and "You don't deserve to be here." The only possible interpretation of your intent is that you mean to hurt her feelings and to degrade her as a human being.

I only got the $500 Bingo win because someone else won with me, so the $1,000 Bingo win was split between us.
As I write this post, I remember mentioning that I won $500 and Posters responding something like,"Had you been the sole $1,000 winner, you would have gotten a tax form sent to your house."

Interesting way to avoid the tax man: play with a companion, each play your own games, but if a big score comes tell them you are playing as a team so that each get an amount below the threshold.
So the Bingo parlor said "OK, forget the tax reporting?"

It was only $500 the very first time, so it didn't reach the $600 threshold for tax form. :)

No, you misunderstand my question, or maybe I misunderstood the facts.
If the normal winning amount that triggers a mandatory tax report to the IRS is $600, and if you hit for a grand, I thought you said that the Bingo parlor did not issue the mandatory report because you said you had a partner, implying that you both owned and played the winning card.
If they bought that argument I can see a potential for abuse, or perhaps it would be better called "advantage play:" avoiding tax on an amount over $600 but less than $1200 by falsedly claiming your buddy next to you and yourself co-owned and co-played the winning Bingo entry.

Aren’t you a lawyer? She didn’t say she had a partner. YOU just made that up! She said ‘someone else won with her’. As I can remember from the last time I played Bingo 40 years ago, there are (many) times two people get a bingo simultaneously, and thus split a jackpot.
I must have way too much time on my hands….
I misunderstood and thought there was only one winner, and she split it with a companion; I now see that there were two different winners.
Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to play bingo...

I believe the difference is whether one hit for Bingo occurred and two people claim they are sharing the win
Vs. Two separate players hitting the same bingo simultaneously.
Most likely for the former one person would be forced to accept the prize and tax responsibility while any agreement to share money and tax liability was between the players to hammer out on their own. That's how it's done with W2-G jackpots.
In the case of the latter it's similar to multiple winners on a Lotto. The prize is divided accordingly
True, baccarat can be expensive but craps could be affordable and both have a decent RTP.
Then again, what do I know? I started my gambling days with craps and over time have drifted to incorporate higher limit slots; I know the RTP sucks but I like the surfing the endorphins caused by conflicting feelings of fear, hope and greed with every bet.
I look forward to reading your mini-trip report.Quote: NathanI am going back to Gulfstream Park Casino for Bingo tomorrow. :) I definitely will not be asking random people to play on my Player's Club Card after getting the 24 hour ban for doing that. ;) Permanently learned my lesson to not get greedy. Strange things happen in gambling.
True story: I was playing $200 max spin while a lady played the same slot next to me for $5 a spin. We both won bonus rounds simultaneously. Everyone was more excited for me because I was betting $200 and not just $5.
Her game got three retrggers and a few all wilds spins while I got nearly nothing. My $200 spin won me circa $900 and she won $2000.
It was one of the most gut wrenching moments of slot play I have ever had. (Had I gotten all her spins instead I would have won about $80,000).
That was my worst losing day ever, BTW so it wasn't even an overall day where I could have some nice wins to alleviate that bonus spin debacle.
(And this was an advantage play on top of that being these were must hits combined with a multiplier freeplay day, 20x freeplay and still my worst day ever).
Assume you have several "lucky numbers" and that you only want to play on cards that have ALL your "lucky numbers."
Can you sift through the proposed cards when you buy in and select only the ones that meet your criteria, or must you take what you are given without complaint?

I’m asking because Gordon has brought up these issues and to me, there never even was a hint of gender or racial overtones in his (or my!) posts.
