the food at Red Lobster is OK. I only eat there once or twice a year (in the last 15 years ). Yes, I remember (vaguely) when they came to town. There was an entree then, crab from Norway or sumptin', was really good.Quote: GWAEMy mom is a waitress at Red Lobster. Can probably get him a discount.
GWAE, if you can send ne any discounts (don't want your Mom to get in trouble) they have Lobsterfest, and Shrimpfest and Fishfest going on all the time.;-)
I am not shy, I like to eat, no damn casinos near me, the damn Southern Baptist Convention continues to ensure all that money goes to surrounding states. We fund the statewide projects deemed noteworthy via tax revenues from the property owners, and the purchasers (sales tax), and the state income tax. No revenue from casino operations? We got gamblers, they play across state lines. Hello GA, can you her me now?

Isn't that "rediculous"? Does GA thing that them not having gambling that people won't get addicted. Once PA got over that idea they have one of the highest tax payments in the country due to gaming. For a while they actually had more money spent on gambling than AC and was second to Nevada. Not sure if that is still true but it was. Casinos have also given us home owners discounts on our property taxes, which was how they got the votes to have casinos. Seems like a win, win, win for PA. GA is missing the boat here.

I saw what you did, I didn't see any discount coupons from you via your mom. Tilapia in Chardonnay/Basil based caper cream sauce for dinner tonight. T'is been a while since I've been around, been very busy with an expansion project for the company I work for.
After I was flown to the other side of the world to set up a Surveillance system on a cruise ship, I spent the subsequent two months in dock with the ship as it prepares the rest of the vessel for public operation.
It's been a wonderful experience so far, but boy do I miss Canada.
I hope you all are well, be safe.

I sure don't know about turning music into gold, but I used to undergo that incessant banging repeatedly as a volunteer for a neck transducer and associated software in the research imaging lab. world wide evaluation of the same neck over and over was appreciated, the banging wasn't.Quote: JoelDezeSuffering through a back/disc injury. I had to get an MRI done last night. While going through it I started making up a country song in my head:
"Why oh why,
Must I go through this MRI,
Bang bang in my head,
No I'm not dead."
I think it may become a sure classic.
My contribution to the state of art of medical imaging was over a dozen head aches.

Great to hear from you, Dods! Glad it's going well.
You've only missed 2 scandals, a dozen Royals, and some random name calling over in DI. Not much, really :) But now you've admitted you're overseas, we want to hear some highlights when you get back.
Take care!
Somebody bring that up at the next billionaire investors conference.

Quote: TigerWuWhat kind of background/experience do casinos look for when hiring their entry level surveillance people? Or do they more often recruit from within after people have worked the floor for several years?
Entry level is basically just GED + your a competent worker. Preference is given for prior experience in Law enforcement, general security, and loss prevention. More choosey places want prior experience working at a casino or hotel.

I snuck in with knowledge and experience regarding security in and out of the casino.
I've seen most people hired with gaming knowledge from the table department, though the majority of our best workers had little to no prior gaming knowledge. It's easier to train new habits than to break old ones.

I just got a new laptop with all the bells and whistles ICore 7 ,16gig, 17", 3d rendering etc etc it has W10 (I was skeptical) and I have only seen a few bugs 1) my bluetooth suddenly wouldn't turn on. 2) I suddenly couldn't click stuff on my taskbar. A Restart fixed the problems. for nowQuote: TigerWuSo, Microsoft did a force-install on my computer of Windows 10 after months of me telling it to eff off. Is it just me or is Windows 10 just absolutely chock full of bugs? Nothing is working properly. Every day something different goes wrong.
I noticed it doesn't get hot like all my previous laptops and it's super quiet.
Call Cortana names if you need to feel better.
I'm getting used to W10 It seems to work good with the touch screen.
Last year, they sent it out knowing that it was defective. It managed to make all my important files untouchable. That took a data recovery specialist two days to reclaim. And it made an Apple customer out of me for the first time in my life.Quote: TigerWuSo, Microsoft did a force-install on my computer of Windows 10 after months of me telling it to eff off. I have Win10 as the manufacturer's original installation on my new portable PC, and that's okay, but I estimate the chance of having no disabling conflicts or glitches on "upgrading" my home-office desktop at < 1%. I probably need to get busy and make this sucker dual bootable, partitioned with Linux as a 2nd operating system, like my old one. Saved my assets about five or six years ago that I took the trouble to do that. Plus, I found there's a lot to like about using Linux, and with all the open source application software that's available there's only a few things that really must have Windows, so on most days I never needed to boot into the Microsoft crapware universe. Unfortunately those few things are essential for me on those other days.
Quote: GWAETiger, are you sure it was a force install. I am guessing you accidentally agreed or someone else using the computer did. Microsoft isn't going to just automatically install I considering the computer may not even be able to handle. Also, don't you have to pay for it after the first year. I haven't installed it because I am happy running my XP.
Yeah, I mean I know they didn't technically "force" me to install it. But from what I've read online, they're kind of shady about tricking you to install it unless you're really computer savvy and know how to get around their tricks. For months I kept getting those popups saying, "Do you want to install Windows 10?" and I always clicked on "no" or "remind me later" or whatever the button said. I honestly never really paid close attention to the popups, I just wanted them to go away. Then one day my computer just shut down out of the blue and started installing Windows 10. So apparently whenever I clicked on the "go away" button, that was really code for "sure, go ahead and install Windows 10 on such and such date."
I've had it less than a week and here are my main problems:
1) The sound doesn't work properly. I have all the levels on everything jacked up to 100%. Some things sound okay, others are really quiet. Nothing is ever "loud."
2) Certain files don't open. I've noticed this mostly applies to media files, like jpgs and mp3s. Some will open fine, others just won't open at all and I get an error message. This only seems to apply to files I've downloaded after installing windows 10. Media files I had before installing open just fine.
3) The task bar quit working after about two days. The start button doesn't work, the search bar doesn't work, and when I minimize a program or window it doesn't minimize to the task bar; it just shuts down.
I haven't googled too much on how to fix these yet, but none of these problems are fixed by restarting or shutting down the computer. Windows 10 has been out for a while now. I would have thought they'd have the major bugs worked out, but apparently not.
Quote: GWAESerious question.
I worked on my porch for about 6 hours today. I busted my ass and are now exhausted. So of course now I sit on the recliner with an ice cold pepsi. The question, would it be "healthier" to drink a 16 ounce bottle of pepsi or a 16 punch bottle of bud light. They are pretty close in calories but I would think pepsi has a ton more sugar.
Today it was 85 degrees at 10 am with the nice Pittsburgh humidity with a feels like 93, at 2pm it was 91 with feel like 97. It was hot as hell.
Anyways, I worked on my porch for 12 hours. Got all the framing finally finished and 3/4 of t he floor done. 1 more long day and the floor/posts/structure will be done. Then 1 more long day for railings, lights, and touch ups.
I drank 2 32 Oz Gatorade and at least 300oz of water. Screw which is healthier, I am going to down at leaat 7 beers by 9pm. That will take all my aches and tiredness away.

Thank you
The funny thing is I am neither handy nor motivated.
When we bought this house 2 years ago we knew it needed some things done. Porch being one of them. I knew if we wanted to get it done it would have to be done by me because we can't afford 3 or 4 grand for someone to do it. It should cost about 1100 when done. Originally I was just going to replace the floor but of corlurse when I pulled up the old floor I found rotted posts aND a badly rotted frame on the one side.
Before I started this I had no idea how to do tongue and groove or how to fix the frame. A few hours of you tube, home depot people that I asked questions, and mostly my father has taught me a great deal.
As for motivation, maybe I do have a little of that. It is a struggle for me to get started but once I get going I am fine.quite frankly, I am a fat guy and moving and doing work like this in heat really takes a toll. Maybe a skinny guy wouldnt be so beat right now, or maybe they would.
A couple months later, I bought ssd laptop with Win 10. I made it a point to look up tips for Win 10 (published by different sources) Made it more useful I think.
Because otherwise, I just look at new features, and wonder why they just didn't leave it alone. \\\
(and well, sometimes still do)
