I shall agree with you. My calculator is my brain.

In answer to the original poster’s (Irfan) question “How to solve this?” I used order of operations, or if you like, operator precedence. Look it up—it’s easy enough to find.

Or the original poster can reference a thread about this subject he created YESTERDAY!:

I used Excel.

Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally.... Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.

= 3/2 + 7 - 9 (6 * 512) * 7 / 4
= 3/2 + 7 - 9 (3072) * 7 / 4
= 3/2 + 7 - 27648 * 7 / 4
= 3/2 + 7 - 193536 / 4
= 3/2 + 7 - 48384
= 1.5 + 7 - 48384
= 8.5 - 48384

= -48,375.5
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

I think it's pathetic that kids need a calculator to do this stuff. Maybe for the actual calculation, but they should know how to set the problem up, or be learning how to, without mechanical or electronic tools.

The point of school is to teach the mind how to think.
