Stop the presses ! I think Caesar's just made the TR program ever so slightly better:

"We are pleased to inform you that beginning February 1st, all Total Rewards® destinations will offer the following hotel benefits:

Early check-in and late check-out will be complimentary for Diamond and Seven Stars® members when available

Resort fees will also be complimentary for all Diamond and Seven Stars members, and all elements included in the resort fee will be complimentary"

- I always thought it was silly that Diamond members didn't have to pay the resort fee, but then DID have to pay for WI-FI access.

At some locations Premium WiFi was higher than the resort fee. I wonder if you will have the option or just get the regular?

Did the 50 points have to be collected at the hotel you will be eating at? I'm going to be there this weekend... a free buffet (I'm going to play anyway) is damn exciting.

So basically, I'd walk in and put $250 through my favorite penny slot, then go to the TR counter and get a voucher? Is it restricted to machine play, or can you get 50 TC at the tables? Or do you have to tell them ahead of time?

You can get it at tables. Good luck finding out how many TR points you will earn at a game, though. A couple hours at BJ should do it, though.

Does not have to be at the same joint. I play poker at CP. It takes 1.5 hours. They said, "any place but CP," but I've only used it at Harrah's so far. PH is a better buffet imo, but more of a wait even if you are diamond sometimes. I'd like to try Paris.

They also told me it will last at least through March. So, I'm going to be saving a lot of money on food for the next 2 months.

Maybe with MGM going crazy cheap skate, CP is trying to eat their lunch?

So now that I am diamond, I figured to stay at the former not so grand (aka Harrah's Gulf Coast), seeing how there are no resort fee charges for diamond. Staying Feb 14th to 17th. So I clicked for three free nights on their calendar, which indicated FREE. BUT they wanted $76 plus tax for Sunday night, the bastards. Now staying at Scarlet Pearl, three nights, free, plus a free bath robe for Valentines Day!

Stayed away from CET properties for the last couples months, everyone else's too (almost). Had nothing to do with the fact that I lost my entire bankroll in 3 back to back days!

But after a couple months, guess what.
My mailer offers just doubled in value, now why is that?
Last couple times I played should have hurt my ADT, cause I lost pretty quickly, 3 times in an effing row! But my mailers are all excited. WTF?

<edit> The real question I'm wondering, just a rec player asking, should I play this month or wait to see if they double again next month? There's a couple grand just waiting for me to go retrieve now, or I could wait for their next tease.... Lost in space, and time....

I'd just do it after a long session of playing. I'm staying at Cromwell on Friday then a friend's timeshare behind Flamingo until Monday. The former doesn't have a buffet and the latter... One can do better. I'll be doing this at least three times this weekend, assuming the cap is once daily.

I think Harrah's buffet is just excellent. Really enjoy it. Never been to the PH buffet, and I agree with you on Flamingo.

I did more recently hear the term "back to back and belly to belly" to describe this situation. While that does make sense, anatomically, it still doesn't sit well with me. [/derail]

Seems like at least some Total Rewards properties use some sort of frequency calculation in their offers. When I lived in Philly, I went to Harrah's Chester pretty much daily for a while. They sent a book of freeplay coupons for $x/day. Then I moved to South Carolina. I still got offers from Chester for a while. But they gradually went from $x/day to $7x/week to $30x/month to $100x on a specific day (went for that one) to nothing at all.

Agreed on Harrah's, they offer unsliced crab legs. I'll make sure to try out Paris and/or PH this trip.

Just 3 big losing sessions in a row. First two nights in a row, then another session a couple weeks later. The NC tribal offers are x for this day, x for this weekend, x for this 2 week period etc, etc and when they happen to overlap they can get attractive. And the largest ones just doubled for Feb. Maybe they miss me ;-)
There also seems to be 2 different depts sending these offers, there are two distinctly different looks to the offers themselves. Most of the overlap is 1 or 2 of this type, and maybe another of the other type, something like that. Seems to be more in play than just ADT though...

Glad you Gentlemen are enjoying yourself at CET properties. I don't waste my time with them any more. They have the worst rewards program of any casino for table players, bar none.

Yes and no. I am a low level pai gow player. I may play an average of 3 hours per day per trip. Probably a negative EV of $50 for a 3 night stay. I get a 'suite' at the Rio, $10 in free play (no laughs please), the free buffet mentioned here, all for 'free'. (Free now is around $100 due to the resort fees.) So if you are a guppy, the program is worth it. By the way, I did not mention the $5 in comps I earned!

Do you think MGM would offer me free rooms, a buffet, for my level of play? I've heard not!

Some of us have to settle for where we can get to, when we can get to, with a busy schedule and too many other commitments. However I would like to hear the recommendations of the knowledgeable as to some of the better rewards programs for table players. Just at your leisure of course. thx -2F

Agreed. As a red-chipper who might visit a casino 3-4 times a year, I earn almost nothing in comps. But the mail offers (free play, free rooms & food, discounted airfare) I have received and used have been quite generous.

The paper referenced in the Total Rewards White Paper thread actually mentions that CET's marketing is more aggressive towards the occasional player than the regular.

Complete fallacy that needs to stop being repeated. Please stop. Programs benefit people differently and Caesar's provides me with significantly more (2x) than MLife ever did. It's not even close.

So let me start by saying if someone makes a comment regarding a program, unless it is backed up by a complete apples and apples statistical comparison, it is an opinion. There is no fallacy here so need to imply that. As stated in my initial comment, I'm glad that you gentlemen are enjoying yourself. Because poster TwoFeathers appears open minded enough to hear about better rewards programs, I am more than happy to share my experience....

The last time I was in Vegas, I played craps at Planet Hollywood. As a seasoned craps player, I understand that most casinos will not give you credit for your "odds" wager. With that said, after my session was over I asked the Pit Boss what my rating was. He said I have you down for an average wager of $305 and your duration was 3 hrs and 15 minutes. I had asked him if they take care of food comps since I was not staying at the hotel and they told me it was all done by Total Rewards and that he couldn't even buy me a cup of coffee. When I went to the TR desk, they said it wouldn't show on my account until the next day (so "no soup for me!"). When I went back the next day to check on my credit, they said I received a whopping $5! Yep...$5, imagine that. I used to play at Harrah's Tahoe at a slightly lower level and never received much at all in comp dollars. Nor did I ever receive any comp rooms for the weekend (simply a discounted rate that wasn't all that good). I would occasionally be offered a comp on a slow weekday which was of no use to me. Mind you, at my same level of play, I am offered free rooms at the Venetian/Palazzo in Vegas (over the last 6-8 months I've received offers for a free 3 night stay with weekends included every single month). As for Tahoe, I stopped playing at Harrah's and went to Mont Bleu (previously they were Caesars Tahoe). At Mont Bleu they do count your "odds" wager, so I am treated like an absolute king there. I always get free rooms, have never paid for a meal, and typically get $100 a day in free chips. I typically earn a minimum of $40 in casino credit from each craps session (if I'm there on a weekday, they sometime offer 3x credit). On a monthly basis, I get $125 spa credit, an additional food voucher of $50, and they typically have occasional giveaways on the weekends based on your play (which is almost a gimmee for me). Over the last 6-8 months, I have won an Ipad mini and a Michael Kohrs purse for my wife. I typically get to the "platinum" level (2nd highest level) which guarantees me the room (and often an upgrade to a suite). In addition, you get 3 free nights every 6 months at the Cosmopolitan that includes a limo to/from the airport and $100 in food credit (last year they gave you $200 in free play also but it doesn't appear they are doing that this year). You also get a free cruise to Mexico or Aruba (ocean view room). Needless to say, I never play at Harrah's Tahoe any more (feel like I'd be a fool to with what I can get right down the way). They also just remodeled the entire hotel so all the rooms are very nice. I also get great seats to the concerts they have. I'm a little older so their concerts are right up my alley as it's typically groups I grew up with (i.e. America, Boz Scaggs, Peter Cetera).

TwoFeathers, I hope this helps. Like you, I am always curious as to other rewards programs so do share if you think you've got one that will give this a run for its money. I'm in the SF area so only play in Tahoe or Vegas. Thanks for inquiring though as this is what a forum should be all about.

Maybe for a player like you with $500 at stake on a roll gets treated better elsewhere but a red chipper who spends $500 on a 4 day weekend Cet treats me great. I already have a day day trip booked in AC at Caesars for a premium room in ocean tower for free. Well minus the resort fees. No where in the world can I get 4 nights for $80 directly on the beach in a decent room in july.

Like I said, if it works for you....great. I can only share my experience, and quite frankly you gentlemen seem to get better rewards than I do even at your lower level of play. I think a logical person would admit that doesn't make any sense at all. Not a $500 player though (I gave you the exact figure the pit boss quoted and that was a little higher than my norm). I also inquired with the TR attendant as to why I would only receive $5 in credit for that kind of play and she responded "that's what the computer calculated" on the play (and she quoted the same average wager and duration as the pit boss).

I'm touchy when people say that MLife is the program for table players because I wasted almost two years playing at their casinos. When I was deciding where to start a relationship, I had seen the "tables = MGM" everywhere and believed the hype. It's a popular opinion that may have been true at one point, but it isn't anymore.

Whether or not you want to casino hop has more to do with your comps than what games you're playing.

We can agree to disagree. I don't know of any rule that says I have to focus on a specific competitor. I simply pick what gives me the best bang for my buck (no casino hopping here). For my money, it's the Venetian/Palazzo in Vegas and Mont Bleu in Tahoe. But as stated, if anyone can point out a program that is better than I mentioned in those locations (and I did give specifics), I'd love to hear it. Or perhaps there's someone I need to speak with at CET Properties that would be willing to give a player like myself $100 in free chips every day of my stay, a cruise, all my meals free, spa credit, etc.? I have friends that have played at CET properties that have not been able to secure those types of comps either, so perhaps we're all doing something wrong. I don't follow any rewards programs with a blind allegiance. If someone shows me something better with the same amenities, I'm all over it. Talk to me guys! If anyone's got something better, I want to hear it!

Excellent deal indeed. I would advise anyone planning to take advantage of this bonus to check on its availability for "Big Game" weekend. Over New Year's and New Year's weekend this promotion wasn't offered even though it was available in the weeks leading up to (and after) New Years. Being another high traffic weekend, I could see CET yanking the promo off the floor for a couple days.
