this case is interesting to me as I have encountered reluctance to offer casino credit at various Eastern casinos. I have concluded it is likely that there is concern that they don't have the protection of Nevada Law, which considers bouncing markers the same as bouncing checks. At least not cut and dried, here we see the G. having to press a lawsuit that seems by no means to be certain to win.

That's really not going to look good for their "wealth planning" business, is it?

I know that a number of midwest states do not allow credit markers, and also have a strong aversion to cage deposits. Cash only.

There are all kinds of bizarre aspects in the original article.
May the cards fall in your favor.

i may have these "facts" a bit off but when reading the article

Quote:

The Aggarwals filed their federal complaint February 22 in federal court against The Greenbrier, which is owned by West Virginia Jim Justice. Their complaint says they were discriminated against because of their heritage and were given free alcohol that led them to losing a large amount in the resort’s casino.

obviously the first sentence is not correct grammar but when you google "west virginia jim justice" you get the governor of west

does the governor own the casino these people were staying at??

9 seconds of research suggests it's in the family. ("Justice Family Group")
May the cards fall in your favor.

Jim Justice is not only the Governor, he also is the richest man in West Virginia, owns this casino, as well as many other businesses and land throughout the state. Especially coal mines.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

I looked the article over again and found the Aggarwal's 'debt' mentioned many times, but never found the word 'felony'. If this was Nevada, the casino would have just alerted the state attorney general that he has a case of just that ... felony level bounced checks. The Greenbrier though is suing to recover debt. Big difference.

I live in West Virginia. Jim Justice is in fact the governor of our state. He is also the richest man in WV and one of the richest in the country. He has his hands and money in everything here. He is the primary reason so much gambling is legalized here now.

I do not see this ending well for these folks because of that, regardless if the claims of racism are real or not.
